Immersion blender
The oil and cottage cheese have to be whipped together to be mixed at the molecular level. I don't think it is possible to do that with a spoon. Curious as to why not use a blender? Rod I think with the small quantities in FOCC, the blades in a blender might not reach the contents of the bowl.

I translated the below from her German work, Johanna Budwig, Photoelements (Resch Verlag. Innsbruck, 1979) p. 160-161. "The correct preparation of the quark & linseed oil mixture is dependent on this combination. For one person, use 100 grams of quark, plus 40 grams of linseed [flax] oil and 25 grams of milk. These proportions are stirred well, so that oil is no longer visible. This is achieved most quickly and effortlessly with one device like the Starmix, though manual cream rackets are suitable." What I think she means by a "manual cream rackets" is either one of those rotary egg beaters or a simple balloon whisk. A starmix is similar to our present-day table top electric blender. doug On Sat, Nov 18, 2023 at 2:34 PM Barbara <georgiaz1929@...> wrote:

I don't understand, Dean. The blades will lift the contents and blend them, but a bowl is a poor vessel for this. The hand blender I originally used came with a measuring and mixing cup that is cylindrical and just a itte larger than the blender. A standard 2-cup measuring cup works well also. Yes Rod, a hand blender may work. Sorry, I was picturing a stand mixer.

Rod, I use a 16- ounce glass beer mug with a handle....easy..,,stick blender fits right in. Then eat the FOCC straight from the mug. Been doing it like that for 10 years now. i wash the mug afterwards, then return it to the fridge....so it is cold for the next serving. Ron

It is not possible to blend the cottage cheese and oil properly without a blender. I hade tried while on vacation. The only thing that works to blend by hand is Greek yogurt. It easily blends and has the proper protein ratio: that is what I use on vacation…but always cottage cheese with an immersion when at home 😊 On Nov 18, 2023, at 12:34 PM, Barbara <georgiaz1929@...> wrote:

A 24 ounce cottage cheese container works perfectly.
