Hello, dear group, May I ask a question, please? Several months ago I finally started a regimen of taking the flax oil and cottage cheese combo. But I felt I had to stop, due to migraines. I experimented with it, and it really seemed that after a few days of eating the combo, I would get a migraine. If I stopped, the headaches stopped. When I started again, the headaches started again.
Have you heard of others having this reaction?
I remember that years ago, upon moving into a new-to-us old house, we applied linseed oil to a wood beam, and that triggered a terrible headache for me for days. Could I simply be allergic to flax oil and not able to eat the combo?
I do not have any trouble with freshly ground flax seeds.
My goal for taking the combo was to work on general health and for preventative reasons. Nearly all my family had cancers of different sorts, and last year I was having several alarming symptoms and wanted to work on them.
Many thanks to you for any insights you might have. -Nina

I understand from a reliable source that if you are unable to use the flax seed oil that hemp oil is similar and may not give you the side effects. The person who shared that was personally told that by Bill Henderson who wrote the book Cancer-Free Your Guide To Non-Toxic Healing.

Hemp oil does have the "perfect" Omega-6 linoleic fatty acid to Omega-3 Linolenic fatty acid ratio of 3:1, BUT the problem is that due to government regulations, hemp seeds must be sterilized, subjected to heat to make them infertile, so only licensed growers can plant them. Thus, the PUFAs found in even cold-pressed oils are probably made with seeds subjected to heat and, accordingly, have had their PUFA components degraded. Maybe someday, our government will come to its senses!

I wonder if Canada has the same regulations as I was told the company she bought from was in Canada. I will try to get the name of the company.

Brad,
I use a combination of Safflower seed (nutrasaff variety, which is guaranteed to contain high linoleic fatty acid, unlike other safflower varieties, which are high oleic fatty acid) and flax seeds. I generally shoot for a 3:1 ratio, which means I press 2/3 safflower seeds to 1/3 flax seeds. I have compared using only flax seeds to this modified combination, and I have consistently gotten better results using this combination. I might also remind you that Dr. Budwig has on record prescribed a similar formula but using sunflower oil and flax oil for a woman who overcame breast cancer. This can be found in her book, Death to the Tumor Vol 2.
I wish I had access to raw hemp seeds, but so far, I have made do with the safflower/flax combination.
