[Owner] Re: [SavannahCatRescue] F2 Savannah Girl available in Ottawa Ontario Canada

Hi Margaret, thank you for your long and very detailed letter. You sound like a great home and a great Owner. Of course the problem is going to be the transportation and it’s a big problem. Because Momo is an F2 she needs to have a lot of paperwork done to be able to cross an international border. Regulated the regulated She is regulated, the same as a full serval would be regulated and need cites paperwork done plus fish and  wildlife inspections at the border. with our cats that are in rescue we just don’t have that kind of time this can take months. I am so sorry as I was very excited reading your letter but it’s just not going to work. Thank you again, Teresa.

Hi

My name is Margaret Bloom. I’m sure you’re inundated with requests for Momo.  I have the perfect forever home for her.

I recently lost my beloved Buddha, a TICA registered Bengal, I raised from 3 months along with his surviving “sister,” Chiku, an F4 Savanah.

Buddha passed from Brain Stem and Spinal Cancer. He lives and was dearly loved past his last breath, I held him in my arms everyday, administering medication, and lovingly petted and held him in my lap throughout his hospice. It was diagnosis to death in an 8 day period. Each of those days were precious.

When I called the cattery owner. A few months later, we welcomed Stone to our family. His TICA name will be Stonecoat Shiladichali.

My 6 month old Bengal, Stone, and my F4 Savannah, Chiku Ruka, are adjusting very well. Chiku translates to “Chatterbox” and she talks all day and night. Shiladichali roughly translates to “brother to chatterbox” so their names are linked.

I have been blessed to have cats my whole life. They have lived long and happy lives for some for as long as 21 years. I have rescued strays in my past. I have experience helping stray rescues from “don’t touch me” to lap babies. I treat my cats like the fur family they are.

My cats have plenty of toys for playtime, including laser toys which they love. They have many food puzzles to play hunt for prey. They are totally, cuddly lap babies and they all received lots of attention and affection. Stone in particular loves the catwheel. We call it “zoom, zoom” time.

I really love my cats and try to give them the very best. I have 2 Litter Robots 4 and a Litter Robot 3 (as a backup) for waste. I clean them regularly.

I use a fantastic mobile vet, Dr Mokhtari so my cats don’t have the added stress of a cat carrier when receiving care. Dr Mokthari comes 1/month for Chiku’s arthritis shot. She helps me with the soft paws. She came every couple of days while Buddha was ill. I’m so grateful. She was wonderful, professional and empathetic.

I dispense medication if needed using lickable treats rather than stress them out.

I also started dental powder in small amounts in their food. Chiku at 14 years has no dental hygiene issues. If she did, I would have her teeth cleaned as I have done in the past.

My pet sitter was a Vet Tech for over a decade and lives next door. She and her husband love my cats too.

I give my cats oodles of affection. Buddha was, and Chiku and Stone are very affectionate and loving. I have experience with the activity and liveliness of the breed and I love it!

I want to rehome a Savannah like Momo if possible. She would blend into a semi-exotic experienced home filled with love and caring. This is the best forever home!

I have rescued 8 times prior to Chiku and Buddha, including 2 cats with chronic illnesses. One kitten was so injured by abuse, she wasn’t expected to live. Lulu lived 2 more happy years.

I have experience introducing new cat members into the family. I’ve done it successfully in the past and again this past 6 months.

I live alone in a 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home. I have room(s) to use to introduce new cat family members and the patience to introduce a new cat family member on her/his timeline. My cats have whole house access. Every room and hallway has toys and scratching posts, many interactive toys and some attached to the fireplace surround. I rotate and introduce new toys frequently. There are also multiple toy baskets they can dig in to and heated beds. Honestly though they prefer to sleep on me.

I use soft paws on my cats and they

have numerous scratching posts in every room. I also don’t have curtains or drapes and have a fold up hammock on the MBR window because sometimes they want to chitter at the birds!

I have wood floors and vacuum daily, including the furniture. I think cats deserve a clean environment. To me a clean environment includes multiple, ergonomic bowls so they can be rotated. My cats eat from clean bowls. I have multiple stainless steal fountains so I can rotate fountains and they have clean fountains to drink from.  I use pet-friendly cleaning products on floors, furniture and countertops

I feed them Blue Mountain dry food. They only receive a 1/2 cup a day split between slow-feed bowls and in toy food puzzles. I feed my cats Nutro chicken and tuna variety. My cats are normal weight and healthy.

I try my hardest to meet my pets where they are including a feral cat who started out very skittish and over time became a big lap cat. I don’t yell or punish my cats, rather I encourage positive behavior with distraction, treats for positive behavior and encourage affection. Despite the text book description about Savannahs, Chiku my F4, is a very social, affectionate fur baby. Buddha was a very social, affectionate fur baby. I was Buddha’s favorite bed. I am Chiku and Stones favorite bed.

I also have exposed my daughter to my cats so they have a relationship and will continue to do so.  If anything happens to me, she will include my cats in her feline-friendly home. She and her fiancé have a fur family and experience introducing new cats into their home.

My challenge is transportation. I cannot drive or fly to Ontario. I have a close friend in Gross Point Park who might be willing to pick Momo up. I live in Nashville TN. Semi-exotics are legal in TN really don’t like the idea of transportation but it is what I need to do. I can also hire a courier service. I hope you don’t discard my application and perhaps we can chat about Momo  joining the family. I can supply references if requested.

Thank you for considering me.

Introducing Momo to our savannah rescue community. We are seeking a special owner and we know you are out there! Have you ever owned a cat that was distrusting to the point of acting scared in your home ? have you ever worked to help a street rescue cat calm down and become suitable for a family home ? Have you ever had a cat that liked to spend their time with the other household cats more than with you? If you can answer YES ! to any of these questions you might be the perfect home for Momo.
Momo means "dumpling" and she may have been a dumpling at some point in her life but now she 8 yrs young and is long and lean and elegant.
Momo is a beautiful F2 Savannah so has some of the serval quirks from her grandfather, and one of them being that she is reserved about bonding to new people. Due to unfortunate circumstances (owner health) this is the 4th home for Momo. Please be her last home ! When she was young and impressionable her owners were unable to spend the time required to bond with her and that is why she has grown up to be this aloof beauty.
She is not suitable for a home with active young children looking for a cuddly savannah pet that can be walked on a leash and dressed up by the children. She is looking for a quiet home that doesn't have a lot of people coming and going. She would be a lovely (although distant) companion for someone working from home.
At times she will engage with fishing rod toys and have a game with you. She also likes to be in the room with you especially if you are preparing dinner ! She likes to have a conversation with humans and she enjoys the companionship of other cats (with proper slow introductions) she would probably be ok with a non threatening mellow dog in her new home, but again she will need slow introductions to any other pets in the home.
Momo has clean litter habits and enjoys a variety of foods including raw, canned and kibble. She doesn't need a large area to live in, but she does love high places. She will always choose the top of the scratching post or try to get on top of the kitchen cabinets and watch the household from there. She also enjoys watching the outdoors by sitting at the window. Momo may never return your affection, but with patience, you will probably see some improvement in her trust levels over time, don’t take it personally if she doesn’t warm up to you.
Momo Does not want to be put in a crate for traveling so in some cases, she may need to be sedated for example going to the vet office . She is already spayed and vaccinated so shouldn't be requiring any vet visits in the near future.
This exotic girl is located in the Ottawa area of Ontario Canada. Due to her high percentage of serval blood she would not be suitable to cross the border as time consuming paperwork would need to be done for her to cross an international border. Momo's adoption fee is $200. Please write Teresa if you would like to be considered for her at info@...
