Repair shops to repair FT-857d

Any repair shops repairing FT-857d?  Mine will not turn on. Suspect fuse, but could be anything.

I’ve seen this guy on YouTube who does repairs, maybe check with him?

Good luck

Yaesu still supports and repairs 857D's.

Check your power supply and cable first, both at its output and at the input to the radio as well as the connectors.  Below 11.73 volts the radio won't turn on.  The OEM power cable should have inline 25 amp fast-blow fuses.

Hi...yep there are...I used one about a month ago out in Texas...same problem with mine, but power surge from a nearby lighting strike...unfortunately they said it would cost more to repair than worth it...

I think this was the place... http://www.hamrepair.com/shipping.html

Hope they can fix it...I ended up buying a FT891 new and still haven't been able to get back on the air..almost 2 months...

A couple years ago I was using my FT857D portable in the CQWW VHF contest. Some smoke came out of it and it stopped transmitting. I sent it to Yaesu for an estimate. They wanted $650 for a main board. I guess they don't repair/replace discrete components on the boards.

But that gave me a direction to go. I got the FT857D back from them. I had been looking at the amp board and didn't find any problems on it. This time I looked at the main board when I got it back. One of the driver transistors, Q1006, a 2SK2973 (found at RF Parts and easily replaceable) was half missing. Aha! An easy fix. Guess I was lucky. I replaced both Q1006 and Q1007. It's been working fine ever since.

I recently had my screen replaced by him after finding out about him on YouTube.

Screen/face looks like brand new.  New life in an old rig. Almost too nice to use mobile 😅

Do we know anyone in the UK..?

I’ve got the dreaded tiger stripe display on my old mobile unit, I’d like to get it sorted before moving it on to a new home as I no longer operate mobile..

Call Yaesu USA 714-827-7600. They still support the 857D and they are very reasonable on parts/labor.

yaesu.co.uk

I sent mine to Yaesu USA, and they had the main board replaced for $90 not under warranty, and back to me in less than 2 weeks.

Mine has been to Yaesu 2 times for different issues and both were back within 2 weeks.

Why did they want $650 from me to replace the main board?
