UniFi adds Crestron Pro AV support
Haven’t played much with it other than adding just a couple of Dante pieces on the network and testing that. Going to be pulling my Pakedge switch and dumping about 18 NVX endpoints over to the Unifi side and seeing what it will or won’t do. Should be interesting to say the least.

I just saw this under Unifi Network application latest release 8.4.54. Has anyone implemented this yet? How does it compare to Netgear? Only the Pro and Enterprise switches are supported at this time.

The real tests in any multicast deployment is not the number of outputs but rather the number of inputs (and number of switches and the handling of multicast between them) – in theory a completely unmanaged switch should be able to do 1:HowEvermanyPortsTheSwitchHas-1 (Not that I would suggest this). On the other hand, a 3:1, generally, would present a higher load to the switch because the switch still has to receive and process the traffic from all three encoders even if it doesn’t get forwarded anywhere.

I have it running at my house as a test and it seems to be doing great so far. No issues to report as of yet. Doesn’t seem to break a sweat handling 1 input to 3 simultaneous outputs. I’m running it on a 48 pro Poe. |
Question, I have two USW Pro switches (24/48) neither of them are running EA 7.1 Firmware and neither of them see that as an upgrade. I checked Unifi's site and they don't advertise that firmware either. Can someone point me in the right direction on where to find it?
We literally just installed a Crestron system in our new house (still being built) and the Crestron fellow never told us that there are/were problems with Crestron and Unifi (I have been running Unifi for a number of years). I set up the network side as that is my background and it took me a few hours to figure out that the two Crestron Amps were swamping the network. So here I am - trying to figure it out :).
Any help would be greatly appreciaed. |
If those amps are NAX amps you will need to double check all the igmp and nvx config settings on the switches. You can find information on Crestron site for that nf

Thanks.
I actually got the .bin from the Early release website and also found unifi's - UniFi Switch - Pro AV document which outlines all the other setting that required. It was reasonably straight forward as the home Automation stuff (Creston) was already put on it's own VLAN.
So now we wait and see how/if it all plays nice together :).

Have you attempted to manually download the firmware to the switches? If you are signed up for EA and enrolled, it should have prompted you to update the switches when it was released. You can try to manually update and pull the firmware from the UI Support site.

Have had it setup and running in my place for about a month now. Six inputs and eight outputs and outside of one day where things locked up, it has worked flawlessly. Not sure what happened on that day, but a quick reset of the network switch restored everything.
Have it setup on a separate vlan and half of the units are running off PoE++. Switch is a USWPro24. |
