FT857 programming software and other Yaesu radios

Змінено

All,
If you are not aware there is a free Yaesu FT-857 memory programming software by G4HFQ (silent key).
This used to be a pay version of the software but since he is a silent key they have made it a free version.
You still may need a license key but it is freely available.
Lots of other Yaesu software here as well.

I've used his program for years on my FT-857D/FT-897D rigs. It is excellent software.

Yaesu asked the software companies like Ham Radio Deluxe and programming applications to greatly reduce the ability to program the FT-857 and 897 because it could damage the memory chips and they no longer have a source for them.

Randy,

Your info is correct but not related to the programming of frequency memories, different kettle of fish.

HRD changed settings that were not intended to be changed by the rig operator due to the limited capability of the MCU Yaesu used and was probably the best fit for when the rig was designed.

Hi All.

Bob, G4HFQ is not silent key.  He lives locally to me and frequently walks past my front door.  He has, however, stopped writing software and no longer feels able to offer support.

If Bob is willing to provide the source code, I might be able to provide continuing support.

That's nice to know. I chatted with him many moons ago after purchasing his software for my 857D and 897D. It wasn't a software problem, just a nice conversation.

Oh wow! My mistake!!
I for some reason thought he was.  My apologies to him and all.

And a big Thanks to Bob for making his software free!!!

Thanks for the correction
