RIP SAA 2N...

 

Few month ago i buy SAA 2N from online, and today , im testing my dipole j pole antenna (im already tested few weeks ago, everything is ok, swr, impedance is ok ), but today...i don't understand why, the reading of this nanovna is off. then i charge the nano because red led on the unit is one led only....after the unit fully of charge, i turn on, and suddenly dead...blank black screen and battrey indicator is gone....led only one if i plug it to the charger...i try connected to pc, it's nothing happen.

can anybody help me, and tell me what to do...
 

The battery on the SAA-2N is not wired in, it just slots in place. It could be a bad connection there. If not it may be a bad battery - it’s a common one often available at vaping stores.

I remove the battrey and check it with my multimeter, and i still get the reading 4.146. looks fine...

if in this case the battrey is the problem . from manual it's say battrey capacity is 3000mha, can use with smaller one...2000mha?

The battery may show a surface charge of full voltage, but die under load if it has a bad cell.

Yes - 2000mAh will still work but charge will not last as long as 3000mAh before it needs to be recharged. Using a multimeter is not a good test of a battery -even a bad battery can show a satisfactory voltage under no load.
If the fault is still there with the 2000mAh charged battery then it may be a circuit fault and the vna should be returned for a replacement.

Short answer is, YES, however, you'll have shorter runtime.

Does it work with a PC? PC would, I think, give the VNA power via USB cable.

today, i try to replace the battery , still doesn't work....
and not working when i plug it to the pc...
 

I had the same issue. I found that the new batteries that I purchased on Amazon, had reversed polarity. Make sure that the red wire from the battery goes to the + on the NanoVNA board. Even though the battery that I purchased had the correct connector, they included heat shrink so that the wires could be cut and reversed.

i already match the polarity, + with red wire, and - with black wire., so far nothing happen, still dead.

only thing happen one red led is on when i plug it with power from the adaptor...but wont turn on....
