At LCRA, we are currently seeking a dedicated Archaeologist to join our Cultural Resources team! This position offers a consistent and reliable flow of primarily in-house projects, working towards common goals with a diverse team of professionals in a hybrid work environment. Created by the state legislature in 1934, LCRA produces and delivers electric power throughout Texas; manages the lower Colorado River and the Highland Lake dams; and owns over 40 recreation areas covering over 11,000 acres of parklands. LCRA’s Cultural Resources group ensures the agency’s compliance with state and federal cultural resource laws and serves as stewards for over 500 (and counting!) recorded archeological sites on LCRA properties.

You will be trusted to:

- Manage small to medium-sized projects, with some supervisory guidance
- Lead small field crews in archaeological survey (approx. 10% overnight travel)
- Prepare basic to moderately complex cultural resources survey and excavation reports
- Conduct artifact analysis and prepare records/cultural materials for curation
- Communicate with project managers, providing input on cultural resources regulatory laws and process, and also presenting preliminary project cost estimates
- Participate in consultation with state and federal agencies, including SHPO, U.S.A.C.E., F.A.A.
- Provide oversight for work conducted by contracted CRM firms.

You qualify with:

- Master's degree in anthropology, archeology or related field plus one or more years of experience in archeology.
- Driver's license

You are a great fit with:

- Experience within Cultural Resources Management
- Familiarity with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and other relevant federal and state regulations
- Ability to effectively communicate findings to project managers and non-archaeologists
- Experience with ArcMap and GIS data collection.
- Working knowledge of the prehistory and history of Texas
