ISO -- two questions on health and aging
Hi and Seasons Greetings:
Two questions re: health and aging
1) Just wondering the best way to treat sciatica back and leg pain. Any recommendations for an orthopedic doc, chiropractor or physical therapist who takes Medicaire (if not, that's OK)? Hopefully based in NW-DC or Maryland?
2) Any recommendations for complementary / alt-medicine doctors who can help to boost energy / sharpen cognition? And who may also take Medicare? Has anyone tried the GW Center for Integrative Medicine?

Once a week I see this magician of a PT guy, Tony Touma, who was at one time the “spine guy” for the Washongyon Wizards. He does a combination of massage, stretch, pulling here and there to keep my lousy discs loose, keep my tight joints loose, and to fix whatever is killing me that week. I lifted something heavy last fall which caused sciatica up and down my left leg. He fixed that eventually. His office folks are wonderful. They take Medicare as well.
Tony Touma, PT, MSPT, FAAOMPT
Where: C.O.R.E. Physical Therapy
Address: 2440 M St NW Ste 316
Phone: (202) 659-2673
Tony received his Master of Science in Physical Therapy in 1990 from Andrews University. In 1993, he successfully completed the requirements for residency in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy from the Great Lakes Institute of Physical Therapy. Tony went on to be a clinical instructor in the residency and a national lecturer in the area of manual physical therapy. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapist (FAAOMPT). As a manual therapist he specializes in assessing and restoring normal biomechanics of the spine and extremities. Tony was also formally trained in Medical Exercise Therapy and specializes in sports medicine with extensive experience treating recreational, high school, college and professional athletes. His areas of interest are complex spine, pelvis and lower extremity injuries with focus on restoring normal functional movements.

Dear Neighbors,
I have to second the recommendation for Tony Touma. He is amazing. Both his physical manipulations and exercises are just right. I walk differently after a session with him.
Best,
Lynn Hamerling
