Where to dispose of computers and other electronic items, and construction material?

Hi all,

I have old computers to dispose of, and the Fort Totten Transfer Station will not take these items, or at least that is what their website says. The District does have a few days each year where such disposal can happen, but the next date is not until February 2025.  I also have one piece of heavy construction material that Fort Totten also will not take, so looking for suggestions on that as well.

Does anyone have any recommendations for these types of bulk trash? Please let me know.

Thanks,
Warren

If the data has been wiped from the computer, take it to Staples on Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda. They will recycle them. It is not recommended to recycle any computer with your personal data on it, as someone can always get it off the hard drive.

Goodwill will take any computer, monitor, keyboards, cables, and other accessories -- working or not, any brand. They have a partnership with Dell, which recycles everything.
