WSJT-X on Raspberry PI 3B and QMX+ unstable

The setup of this combination has been working just fine with FT8 and WSPR for a while. All of a sudden, tx stopped working while rx still works, including bandhopping. After resetting and restarting sometimes both tx and rx work, then. again suddenly tx quits. Any advice? Could it be a falty USB-C cable?

It could be a faulty USB cable, but I would check your antenna from end to end and the transmission line first. I was having some strange issues recently and discovered my counterpoise had fallen into the snow.

I would check the USB cable, I have come across cables with poor shielding, i.e. they catch/are affected by RF.

I run wsjtx and a raspi to my QDX and it started having similar problems. I found wspr would tx ok using my laptop but no longer on the raspi, just a brief transmission. Anyway, I found out that must have been after an update on the raspi, the sound card level was running at 153%. As Hans usually says set tx audio to max, I did not discover for a long while that reducing the tx audio level from the raspi back down to 100% cured the problem.

I obtained and tried a few good well-shielded and ferrite-beaded USB-C cables but the situation has not improved. The combination works after several resetting and restarting but then suddenly tx no more though rx keeps working. I tried Windows 10 version of WSJT-X as well as MacBook version, but the combinations behave in the same manner. It works a while then tx stops.

Any idea?

Does this behavior persist when transmitting into a dummy load?
