YSF Reflector questions.

I have a DR-2X with HRI 200 directly connected. With wiresx room enabled.

I want to create a YSF reflector for it. So users can connect with hotspots or even apps like droidstar.

I believe I was mistaken on what a YSF reflector does. I thought it was connected to wiresx & then the created reflector goes off the wiresx room or node as an alternate way to connect.

But now I'm thinking..maybe a YSF reflector must need some rf connection to your wiresx room? Is that correct or am I mistaken? If so this project may have to wait till later on. When i add a RC210 controller to the repeater. So i can add link radios for things.

I bought a raspberry pi4. Loaded raspberry pi bullseye onto it. Followed the setups on qso365 for creating a ysf reflector. All this is new to me. Ive never messed with raspberry pi much. Still trying to understand port forwarding or if I set that up right too.

Also can this all be done on the same internet connection? The DR-2X, HRI 200 & raspberry pi4 all on three same network. Or is it best to run the reflector on a different internet connection. I only ask because some of the information online can seem conflicting & confusing.

I try to ask for help with this in pistar groups. But they never approve my post there. So I'm left to what information I can scrounge around the web. Most of it looks several years old too.

I think you need to register your repeater with Yaesu and they will issue the things you need. I have a DR-X2 and asked a Yaesu employee about this and they said when I get everything installed with an HRI-200 and laptop connected they will get me a reflector #.

I know a cross connection between the YSF network and the wires-X network can be done but I am not an IT, network, or computer guru so I can’t help but please google central Kansas repeater group and contact them.  While they are mainly doing DMR, they had a Wires-X room cross connected to the YSF network for a while. We connected our Wires-X repeater to their Wires -X room to participate in a net that was primarily on DRM but also on YSF and their Wires- X to YSF bridge allowed us to participate using our Wires-X repeater.  Eventually they had a computer sever failure that broke the bridge from wires-X to YSF and apparently because they were primarily interested in DMR it never got fixed and I think they took the Wires-X room down completely.  I don’t have a clue how they did it but maybe they will share with you what it takes to get to establish a YSF to Wires-X bridge..

lots of luck.  A couple years ago when I was on dmr, which I've since dumped because of the audio, I asked about the Kansas  dmr network and was told it wasn't part of the public network and took special info to get on it.  I said I was interested, but never got any info.  Not a big loss as far as I'm concerned.

Butch: KSDMR is not the same group as CKRG.  CKRG has one or more  DMR repeaters on Brandmeister and YSF.  KSDMR is their own private network.  At one time they had a gateway to Brandmeister but I believe they severed ties to all other networks.

I am not involved with either KSDMR or CKRG, I just know that CKRG had a YSF to Wires-X bridge a couple of years ago that we made use of.

Thanks, I didn't realize there were two networks.  Thanks for letting me know.  As I said as soon as I h ad the satisfaction of making it work, I dumped it.  I just couldn't stand the audio.

Basically you need to create a bridge.  I know WDRG have done this and I think another NW Repeater Group might be worth reaching out to them.

I think it comes down to MMDVM and pistar, or a cloud-based XLX server?

I finally managed to create a YSF Reflector on the raspberry pi4. So now I can utilize direct RF to repeater, WiresX or using hotspots like pi-star, openspot etc..as well as apps like Droidstar.

I believe most of my problems were new to understanding raspberry pi stuff. Plus having to setup port assignments, port forwarding & creating a fixed IP for the raspberry pi.
