Ring doorbell ???

My wife has been wonking about these for a couple of months so I grabbed one to play with. I haven't installed it yet, but wondering IF.
If your system is running on ipads running the creston app and someone rings the doorbell, will the ring app show through while the crestron app is running?  And if so, is it worth the effort to try and integrate it??
We just got home from picking up Chinese food and plastered on the tv was someone being arrested for stealing a package off a doorstep, identified by footage from a Ring doorbell.

I've never heard of an API for ring. If you do want a similar lower cost option, Avycon makes a standards based video doorbell with SIP support and strike control... I don't love their app but at least you can make your own

I haven't used any ring devices.  However, if the Ring doorbell is capable of creating events (i.e. motion detected, doorbell pressed, etc.) within the Amazon Alexa ecosystem, then you should be able to trigger routines with these events.  Then, in a routine, you can turn on a light that is defined in the Crestron voice modules and from that trigger code on a Crestron processor.  Since Ring is already working with cloud services, to send notifications to your smart phone, etc., there really isn't any downside to leveraging Alexa routines. to help you integrate with your Crestron processor.

Hope this helps
