Zbitx have a jack for external Microphine and CW key

Same as the title….
Does the zbitx have an external microphone and CW key jack?

thanks

It's not a retro radio, is it, but if you need one, you'll have it, see here: #114796

I see 3x 3.5mm jacks along the back of the board, safe to assume mic, key, and speaker, I think...

Ken,

Are these the 3.5mm jacks which you meant?

I hope we will get some clarification about their role from VU2ESE.

Ashhar has already provided a schematic. If you look closely at the very first frame, you’ll see three jacks in the schematic and exactly what they do:  mic key earphone .

Thank you Gordon for reposting this schematic. Either I missed the schematic or I joined the group later!

Yes, there are three jacks: cw key, earphones and mic. Just like the sbitx. It is a mini me of the sbitx.

Judging by the comments, I have to say that they are not reading carefully.
In the 2nd message of the topic, I marked the message whose content tells the answer.
Yes, you need to read the topic and not a series of messages in chronological order.
You need to learn to read well and read the useful information, then there will be no unnecessary message exchange.
I wish you a fruitful New Year! (because it probably won't be happier)

The "zBITX" schematic tossed me off at first. It is labeled
sBITx 2024-4-17
and I was also looking for the mentioned Pico, which isn't there, so I thought, it was a an old schematic for the very similar sBITX.

The pico is on a separate pcb. We are tweaking that still...

When Ashhar presented it, he listed several caveats and items that were presented inaccurately    You can find his original missive to find those.

On the same lines, is there a usb port? I presume there is. In the description it says that you can add an external monitor so we know there is a hdmi port, I would presume.

Robert

It seems the usb ports are accessible, there is a warning to not try and power the radio thru the usb ports.

Is the USB port meant to be for data alone? With the USB-C PD (https://youtu.be/ZGinqKQfj6A), powering through USB would have been a good idea. One will have many options like power banks and chargers already at home.

The USB connections the zBitx has are incidental to the Pi Zero, so they are not USB-C PD compliant.

USB-C PD would have required Farhan to design the circuit and add it to the main board, and as we will recall, the goal of the zBitx was simplicity.

Hi...

Can you please tell me if the Zbitx uses the Pi Zero W or 2W?

If the W, then could I replace it with the more modern 2W, if the 2W is pin and functionality [backward]upgradable.

Thank you,

Don in Austin.

Hi Don,

They don't tell you everything on their web site. The main radio board uses a Raspberry Pi Zero 2W, and the display board uses a Raspberry Pi Pico.
