Too sleepy last night to put together the Listies correctly - I left out ANOTHER whole category: PHOTO OF THE YEAR

by Peggy Robin

Last night's Listies finale was the CP Listies version of that infamous Oscar night fiasco when they announced that LA LA LAND had won best picture instead of MOONLIGHT....except in the message sent out on the Listserv last night, where there was supposed to be the BEST PICTURE announcement, there was....nothing.

I also left out another full category, BEST ANIMAL STORY last night, but at least I realized that mistake before I went to bed, and posted the winner in a separate message at 11:42 PM (If you missed it yesterday, go to Message #220957. As had widely been predicted, the winner was "The Saga of Nico, the Lost Parakeet," posted by Pam H.

So now at last we come to the PHOTO of the YEAR. [Suspenseful fumbling with envelope] And the winner is....

OUR OWN STUMPY. Congratulations to the little tree and to Susan B., who took the winning picture. "Aurora at the National Cathedral" and "Juvenile Cardinal" tied for second place, with Bald Eagle" taking third (almost making it a three-way tie for second, but just a few votes shy,) and "Pink View of the Castle" coming in fourth.

Whew. I think (hope!) that's it for the omitted categories. Next year, gotta block out time to put the Listies together well before the deadline of midnight on the last Saturday of the year!

Come back next year for the new, improved process!

The Cleveland Park Listies are published on the Cleveland Park Listserv and on All Life Is Local on the last four Saturdays of the Year (with clean-ups and corrections on the last Sunday of the year, if neeeded!)

Thank you, Peggy Robin! We appreciate you!!

----------
Thanks for all the positive feedback I've been getting, on-list and off, for this year's Cleveland Park Listies.

If anyone is interested in the full list of winners, without needing to check the two "Missed category" messages I sent in after having left them out of the original winners announcement, that's now possible at Message 220956, https://groups.io/g/clevelandpark/message/220956. (That's the original message, re-edited to include the two missed categories.)

The full list of winners is also available at All Life Is Local:
"And now....the envelopes, please! Presenting the winners of the 2024 Cleveland Park Listies!"
