Group features

The sections below show which features are available for Basic, Premium, and Enterprise groups, including limitations that have been implemented over the years.

All levels have the following options:

Listed or unlisted in site groups directory

Public or private archives

Open, restricted, or moderated

Virus scanning

API access

Comprehensive moderation tools

Allow sponsorship of the group with a button on the home page  (see https://beta.groups.io/g/main/topic/79657173 for details)

You can quickly check your group features by going to Admin, Upgrade.
Legacy Enabled indicates a feature that is not available to new free groups, but is available to your group.

Basic (Free)

1 GB storage

For groups created before January 15, 2020:

Unlimited members

Unlimited subgroups

Group calendar

File storage

Photo storage

Databases

Wiki

Polls

Chat

Directory

5 integrations

Limit of 100 MB per file, photo, or email

For groups created between January 15 and August 24, 2020:

All of the above with the exception of subgroups - none are allowed

For groups created between August 24, 2020 and February 8, 2021:

No subgroups, calendar, files (except attachments), photos (except attachments), databases, wiki, polls, chats, directory, or integrations.

For groups created after February 8, 2021:

Limited to 100 members

(If a Premium group downgrades to Basic, it will be locked until the membership is less than 100.)

Premium (base price of $20/mo or $220/yr)

(groups that became Premium before October 22, 2019 have a grandfathered price of $10/mo or $110/yr as long as they don't change plans)

Regular, before February 8, 2021:

30 GB storage

Unlimited members

Unlimited subgroups (If the group is downgraded to Basic, subgroups are locked)

Regular, after February 8, 2021:

All of the Regular Premium features except membership.  Up to 500 members included, additional members are $0.04 per member per month or $0.44 per member per year, calculated on the billing date.

(If a Premium group created after February 8, 2021 downgrades to Basic, it will be locked until the membership is less than 100.)

30 day free trial:

All of the above EXCEPT you cannot Directly add members or Edit email addresses & confirm members.  If the group is downgraded to Basic, subgroups are locked.

Enterprise (base price of $200/mo or $2200/yr, $100/mo or $1100/yr for non-profits)

Note:  At some point, possibly early 2024, pricing for Enterprise groups changed to Custom, so cost can vary.
