Crestron and power sensing....

Hello,

I am contemplating getting a Crestron system and have a quick
question to this group...

Does Crestron's new systems (CNMSX-PRO or CNMSX-AV and CNX-PAD8) have
power sensing? Meaning is it smart enough to know when a component is
already on...

Thanks,

The short answer is... yes.

The long answer is, there are several ways the control system can ascertain the on/off status of equipment, including:

    current-sensing
    A/V signal-sensing
    "state-tracking" logic

Some components may also have "discrete" infrared power codes available, and still others are able to be controlled (and polled) via RS232 serial interfaces.

So, basically, there *is* a solution available, but the method used will be determined by your particular components and how (who) you plan to use them.
