wiring

The UNIX Mighty!

I plan on doing my own wiring for installation of crestron system in
future (6 months). The house is under construction right now with sheet
rock coming up in few weeks..

Ligting System: Centralite
Security: Gemini (ran cat5 bo basement)
Audio: ran wires to media cabinet
Video: ran wires to basement
Windows/Blinds: ran cat5 from each window to basement
Temp Sensors/Dampers ran cat5 from each window to basement

Please let me know if i'm missing something for HA

Should I ran cat5 to each location where I plan on putting a Crestron
Touchpanel to control this stuff.

Thanks

Hello
If you plan to use the small (CT/LC1000) panels, then a cat5 is no problem.
However if you plan to use larger panels (tps5000,6000, or vt3500) types
then you should run
at minimum 2 cat5's a 4 conductor (2-18AWG, 2-22AWG) with an overall drain
to each touch panel location.
Also If you are doing video to the panels (tps5000,6000) please also run a
RGBHV (5 coax type cable)

I hope this helps.

Mike

thanks for the response..

Does the 18-AWG or 22-AWG have to be Stranded or Straight.?

Would Quad shield RG6 work.. or this is a different cable.

thanks
