VIST 128bpt RS232 protocol #crestron

HI All

I am trying to integrate the VISTA-128 BPT panel to the crestron CP3 system, I have tried using the crestron module "Honeywell Vist-128BPT Turbo Series Prodigy v1.0(Cm)" but wasn't quite successful.

Could any please share the Serial commands list manual of VISTA-128BPT on how it works with any 3rd party systems.? Or is there any 3rd party software's that I could use to find these commands ?

Thank You.

This will not be publicly available for obvious reasons of security. I had to sign an NDA with Honeywell

Okay, could you help me out on whom to contact from the honeywell side with regards to the NDA.

I emailed you a Honeywell RS-232 protocol document I have from 2010. Although the doc is pretty old, the 128BP series panels are even older, and I'm sure not much has changed.

There's also a very detailed troubleshooting document in the Group's Files section - https://groups.io/g/crestron/files/Documents/Honeywell%20Vista%20128BPT%20Home%20Automation%20Troubleshooting.pdf. It includes instructions for testing communications with a terminal program.

FYI, I've integrated many many Honeywell/Ademco panels over the years, and 99% of the time, communications problems were a result of the panel options (described in the module's help doc) not being configured correctly by the alarm installer.

Thanks for the response tony, Could you please send me the RS-232 protocol document to this " suvarna.s5696@... " email address as my old yahoo email has been deactivated.

While on the topic of this panel, For years we worked under the information that you can NOT enable a 128BPT to use the Honeywell Total Connect Service AND full Crestron integration with zone status.

I don't know where that idea originated from but I've heard it from multiple programmers and alarm companies. People would then say "Oh, use the 4232CMB add on board, but that only offers keypad emulation, not zone status.

It was only this year that we learned it IS possible, when you use the VT-SERCB cable on a 128 BPT, you can have full Crestron integration and Total COnnect working simultaneously. The cable costs like $7 and uses the J9 header on the 128, NOT the J4.

Also want to stress what Tony said about setup, don't ignore the vendor setup section in the Crestron doc or it won't work. I just integrated another one of these last week and to get it working we had to complete the vendor setup section before it worked properly. I guess this applies to a lot of security panels actually...

Working with a 128 BPT today, the v1.2 modules from the application market do still work. Make sure the alarm programmer gets the panel configured correctly.

Tony - I've got a few of these coming up and would appreciate RS232 protocol doc for troubleshooting - possibly writing own module?

I have a Vista 128bpt in my home.  I used the Paul Cupp authored Crestron modules from an eternity ago.  I found that the feedback on the modules was sometimes delayed by up to seven seconds.  I found the issue deep in the bowels of one of the Simpl+ modules and fixed it.  Now feedback occurs in, at most, a second.  I run this integration on a CP2E.  I can post these modules here if anyone is interested.

Not sure what the serial cable does that @CaseyBenjamin posted earlier as these panels have onboard RS232 that you can connect just about any three conductor copper cable.

yes please post -  Vista 128bpt is oldie but goodie that hangs around for long time
thx
