Tip: fixing tiny, muffled, limited range audio on SDR# with Community Plugins / SDR# Comunity Installer
#sdrsharp
Hello everyone --
If you happen to install the SDR# with Community Plugins (aka SDR# Community Installer) and get audio with limited range, "tiny" or muffled, go to the hamburger menu, "Plugins", "Audio Processor" and uncheck the "Bandpass Filter" box. I've just installed the SDR#WCP from airspy.com (digitally signed on 27-feb-2023), tuned a few FM-broadcast stations and noticed the POTS telephone audio quality despite the WFM demodulator width set at 200KHz. Fortunately, it was only the 3rd plugin to be checked 😂 As a suggestion to kind person keeping the package, perhaps the next release of SDR#WCP could have this option disabled by default. Cheers. -- pu3hag |
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I had switched to Community Install months ago, without actually looking at the newly available plugins that I has switched to take advantage of. Your very clear depiction allowed the cure of several distortion/bandwidth problems whose origin I had failed to realize...

In my case, SDR# Community Package came by default with the audio filter enabled. So, not an user error but a decision from the packager. Still speaking of FM, sometimes SDR# can't provide good audio - not sure about the right terminology - due the deviation or modulation index in use. Occasionally I tune to old analog TV audio carriers or Studio-to-Transmitter links and can't get good audio. Either the volume is too low sound with WFM (even narrowing the pass band) or recovered is very distorted using NFM. On Sat, Mar 18, 2023, 17:18 AC9BX <ericferguson69@...> wrote:

The plugin is probably set that way by the plugin author. The packager only downloads and installs the plugin as-is.

Check the bandwidth on NFM for the STLs or on WFM for the broadcast audio. Try SDR# without any plugins and with the correct bandwidth and see if it sounds the same. Joe M. On 3/26/2023 4:59 AM, H. Garcia, PU3HAG wrote:
