Thanks for all the Mattress Advice! (was: ISO Advice on Mattresses/Mattress Stores)

 

So many of you responded to my request for advice on mattresses and mattress stores. Thank you!  And some of you wanted the results which are as follows:

 

By far, Saatva on 14th St. got numerous thumbs up – from 6 different people in fact;

 

Bloomingdales (Tyson’s) got 2 votes, along with Macy’s (1 vote);

 

Mattress Firm (Wisc. Ave.) got 2 votes, 1 for its Tempurpedic mattress;

 

Others mentioned were: Sleepare (Tysons); Costco; and Avocado Green (which has a Georgetown Store);

 

Finally, 2 which may or not still be around: Room & Board (from 7 years ago); Haverty’s in Rockville (a few years ago).

 

Thank you again for all your great suggestions. Here’s to better sleeping in 2025.

The Second Pass for Leaf Collection in Section B will begin on Monday, January 6

 

 
The second pass for leaf collection in Section A in Wards 1-8 is still underway.   
 
 Section B in Wards 1-8 should get ready for your second pass at leaf collection. Residents in Section B, please have your leaves at the tree box or curbside by Sunday, January 5, 2025. Visit dpw.dc.gov/leaf  to learn about leaf collection and when we will be in your neighborhood.

Leaf collection schedule updates are made every Friday by 5 pm.  All sections will receive two weekends’ notice of when to rake their leaves out.

ISO: freelance Airbrush artist

 

Greetings, and good wishes to all for the coming year

I am seeking to hire an Airbrush artist located near to CP, who is able to use their airbrush set-up to paint flat, wooden parts for a sculpture for me. (I can supply water-based paint.) Hoping someone on the list can either take this on or refer someone else who can.

No complex design work required. This is airbrushing at its most basic: lay down only one of several colors on each of the parts. This calls for someone who is able to apply a very smooth, matte surface, water-based paint color to each small wooden sculpture part. (Each part is to be completely covered in one color only, with no more than three colors to be used for the sculpture. Only primary colors and / or black and white.)

If this process turns out well, there is the possibility of more of this type of work.

If you have the equipment and skills to take on this project, or you know of someone else who is capable of undertaking it, kindly contact me.

I’m seeking advice on where to buy a great mattress along with “white glove service” (you can sit/lay on it at a store, they deliver, set up, and take your old mattress).

 

I’m really willing to invest in something good. Who has had a good (or not so good) experience with a store in the tri-state area, including department stores?

Hi,

I have an Ikea Ektorp loveseat and couch (3-seater), both w beige covers, that I’m hoping to rehome. The couch is in good condition; loveseat in fair condition. Slip covers are washable.

Both come from a home with a cat.

Note: The loveseat has a crack in its frame on the back, though it’s not visible with slipcover on and doesn’t impact the seating comfort. Someone with basic tools could likely fix.
