I'll be at this project on Thursday, I'll document the process and get it to you.

If this happens again, I'm going to drop the Crestron skill and just do everything through my Hubitat.  I've never heard of anyone having a problem with the Hubitat Alexa Skill and I already use it for triggering announcements and other actions on Alexa devices.

All that is required is to create a virtual switch on the Hubitat, have the Alexa routine turn the virtual switch on/off and my Crestron Hubitat driver will allow that action to be seen by the Crestron processor.

Thanks again

Thanks Gary!  You are right.  I just played with the skill and now it is
telling me that the Crestron Home Automation skill isn't enabled.  What
process do you use to re-enable it.  I didn't see that as an option in
the Alexa app on my iPad.

Re: any working NTP servers

From an old-timer:
… the CN2 series did have limited DTS availability, as in not all time zones were available, however these devices were pre internet so relied totally on the internal clock.
The CNMSX series essentially used the same symbol set as the CN2 series but had the option of installing a network card, but needed to have the Crestron module (or home grown) to query a time server.

I didn’t think the XGEN supported DST but if you drop a CLOCK symbol in the program the parameter is there (with the help entry for it stating that the parameter is not supported on the XGEN) so… But how many XGENs are still running around out there? (Probably more than a few).

And of course its probably not important to note that there’s at least three widely understood ‘time’ protocols: NTP, SNTP, and DAYTIME.

DAYTIME provides the date/time in a loosely defined plain-text format that is really easy to parse against a single server but because the format is loosely defined parsing it can fall apart easily as various OSes have slightly different implementations with no clear indication other than looking at what the returned value is and guessing how its formatted.

SNTP and NTP both provide the same data from the server in a very predictable format that is not at all human readable. The only difference between SNTP and NTP is on the client side with the S standing for simple. ‘Pure’ NTP provides the greatest accuracy by requiring querying at least 3 servers [IIRC] and averaging the time while SNTP is content to just take the time provided by a single server and use that – but the data provided by the server is the same in either case.

Pretty sure Crestron processors only allow for time zone adjustment, as far as I’m aware there’s no DST offset in the web interface.

I have a site that relies heavily on schedules so I’m keen to get this correct.

That's a general statement - haven't looked into how Crestron handle it, but the NTP side of things should definitely be UTC.

Fantastic, thanks Josh that’s good to know. I had a feeling they did but certain “cheap and cheerful” devices shall we say seem to give the option to set the dates of DST 😅

On 2-series, this was done via the CLOCK symbol. For 3 and 4-series, you can use the TIMEZONE console command or Toolbox or the web interface to set this.

Re: New Roku Issues

Just to follow up, installing a 32GB Sandisk microSD card fix the issues with my client's Roku that was having out of memory issues.

Re: New Roku Issues

Update. It seems that firmware 14.1.4 does not have this issue.

DMC XX -DSP - No Down Mix of 24bit Audio

Hi,
Before I open a ticket with Crestron, I want to see if I am missing something.
I have discovered that NONE of the -DSP cards, HD, 4K, 4KZ will down mix any LPCM multichannel with 24bit stream. 16 bit works fine***, but as soon as the format is changed to 24bit LPCM, only Left/Right channels ever come out of the analog outs. And DM tool will actually erroneously report that source is 2 channel (reports 6 ch if 16bit stream). Same signal can be routed to HDMI destination (AVR), and DM reports the audio is 6 channel on the output side.

Firmware, settings, restore - spent entire weekend messing with this and the 3 generation of DSP cards. Not seeing anything in the spec sheet that mentions this limitation.  Any tips appreciated.
***Additional issue I discovered, with 5.1 LPCM at 16bit/44.1khz from Windows PC, the subwoofer channel is missing the the stereo down-mix. I have to do further testing to verify this.

Re: Crestron DIN DALI-2 control with Tridonic DALI MSensor 02

Hi Andrzej,
i know this subject was talked about a while ago now but i have a possible job with lots of tridonic msensor g3. Am i right in saying that at first you addressed all the tridonic stuff with the Tridonic USB/DALI interface and the Tridonic Master Configurator software and once that was done you could use the crestron din-dali 2 byte/3 byte command to read them?
When i surveyed the job i was able to see devices on the crestron din-dali commissioning software that werent ballasts so im assuming that these were the msensors that had been addressed, as i have a msensor straight out the box connected to a din-dali and nothing shows in the software. So this would need setting up with the usb rs232 interface?
Also do you have any code snippets that would help?
Regards
Neil

Re: Roku, preferred IP module

I use 2 modules.

First I use the CCD VideoServer module for navigation, etc.  Then I use the Roku 3 Series module for direct app selection.  They work fine together and I found the combination to provide very reliable and full featured control.

Hope this helps

Re: Recommandation for better organise Press/Visibility Digital join

Definitely agree with Jeremy and Eric...

I also find it helpful to assign joins so that the last digit matches what I'm using it for. So, for my source and destination signals, src1 might be at join 401, and dst1 might be at 501. Their serial joins for button labels match those joins. If I need to also "enable" the buttons (maybe to show whether the source is available or not), I'll often use 451 and 551 as the starting joins for that (rather than using up 2 more blocks of 100 joins). This helps me be able to quickly confirm that things look right in my interface when I'm assigning joins there. A button that I'm using for src28 should have joins 428 digital, 428 serial, and maybe 478 for enable. Join 400 would be the src0 button (none/clear/off).

This also helps when you're running all those same signals through crosspoints, or an EISC, so it's easier to verify that things are where they should be. Using the same join numbers there isn't mandatory, but I find it helpful. For projects where it's possible, I try to keep the joins packed in under 1000, so they play nicely with the limitations of crosspoints. Or, at least the signals I plan to run through the crosspoints will be under join 1000.
