It is with great sadness that I report that our friend, longtime RARC member and fellow ham Firetruck Dan is now a silent key. Dan passed away earlier this week. There will be no services, he is being buried on the family plot in Iowa. Dan will be sorely missed, and remembered fondly by all that had the opportunity to know him. Here is the good news about Joe (One) Rinella. I gave him a send-off at Saint Lukes East Hospital at 6 a.m. His wife, Deb, texted me at 11:06 a.m. yesterday with the following: Surgery went well; minimal blood loss. Tumor was attached to gland and had not grown into any other tissue. The found a suspicious blood cluster (hematoma) and had it tested; was not cancer. Doctor predicts good recovery; tolerated surgery well; could go home Christmas day. God is good. I just spoke with Joe and he asked me to send out a message to all his ham friends. He has the brain fog, most likely from left over anesthesia. Family will visit him today in the hospital. Things are moving slow and being released today is doubtful. He will likely be worn out from family visitors and so does not need other visitors. Joe Two P.S. Here are the encouraging Scriptures I left with Joe before his surgery. Isaiah 64:4 For from days of old they have not heard or perceived by ear, nor has the eye seen a God besides You, who acts in behalf of the one who waits for Him. Isaiah 30:18 Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, and therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him. Isaiah 40:31 Yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.
