So often questions here (and elsewhere, for that matter) are asked with regard to what a given keyboard shortcut is for a specific function in one of the Microsoft Office/M365 programs. Unfortunately, I've spent the day troubleshooting, including a long/unhelpful call to Microsoft, multiple restarts/shut downs, closing/opening Outlook and JAWS. Call escalated to tier 2 for callback Tuesday, but I will probably cancel, as I doubt Microsoft support agents can effectively resolve issues directly related to JAWS, which results of today's research leads me to believe that is the case. Unless somebody here can help, the plan is to call Vispero Monday. Below I will describe in depth what is happening, but first information about my system: Windows 10 Pro Version 22H2 OS Build 19045.5247 Outlook 2019 JAWS 2025.2412.50 I will describe 2 issues in this message. The first is that JAWS doesn't always read content of messages. JAWS works well, I think, until I open a message. Various things happen at that point. Some messages appear blank; JAWS only says "blank blank blank" as I navigate. However, sometimes, if I arrow around, try to move word by word, etc., JAWS speaks, I can then arrow down while JAWS reads; the experience is different; speech doesn't flow swiftly as it usually does, and the top of the message appears to have blank lines, when I know they shouldn't. On other occasions, JAWS won't read anything at all; I just hear "blank blank blank." There are some occasions when JAWS reads the content of message immediately after opening; pretty sure it doesn't have lots of graphics, photos, etc., like the other messages. I will note that Narrator seems to find content after opening messages, but I don't want to use Narrator. The second issue is that I cannot easily type/edit when creating messages, replying, etc. If I Shift-Tab and then Tab, typing/editing happens in the circumstances where I tried. This should not be necessary. I'm only able to type this message after Shift-Tabbing to "Subject" and Tabbing back to the "Body of the message." The Microsoft agent didn't help at all. He confirmed my system was properly updated; asked me to check, which I did, and JAWS announced the system was up to date. I had already repaired Office, so he didn't repeat. He did, however, choose to repair JAWS; no improvement. For whatever reason, the Quick Assist process was far from quick. I'll spare you the details, but it was a mess. The agent chose to escalate the call. All was going along pretty well about 24 hours ago, but I was extra frustrated with the lengthy delay when opening messages. It occurred to me that perhaps an add-in was causing the problem...I'd tried many other things to no avail. There were just a few; 4 I believe. Only 1 was enabled, and I know the title included "Adobe". I probably should of just disabled, but I removed the add-in. The other add-ins included GoogleSync and something about social media. There was another add-in, and I didn't think it was needed, but I cannot recall the title. GoogleSync was needed prior to retirement, but not since 2020. Again, perhaps I should have just left the add-ins disabled, but I chose to remove them. Things with Outlook and JAWS haven't been the same since. Removing the add-ins may not have anything to do with what is happening, but sharing just in case. I've tried various things in JAWS settings, but with minimal success. I ended up returning JAWS back to factory settings; no change in performance, and ability to efficiently continues to be . I played with the Auto Download settings in the Trust Center; no success. I would love to know what those settings should be. I don't want to risk security, but it appears HTML messages involve downloading visual stuff, so perhaps I should enable some automatic downloading. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Katrina

Hi All, After adding a new Outlook.com profile to my Outlook 2021 Pro email client the other day I'm getting the following error code after opening Outlook 2021 with any profile. After I open I hear: Oops something went wrong, oops something went wrong, Microsoft, click here for troubleshooting information ... button. If press the spacebar on the button every goes away, but if I press the spacebar on the troubleshooting button this message comes up. Error Code: 00000000 Correlation Id: c32e590a3bb04823b6a2b4fc132837ab Timestamp: 2024-12-30T00:09:42.157Z Sometimes I hear something about a password, but there's not a field to enter a password, or for what account it's wanting the password for. Using the latest JAWS and windows-10 and latest Office-365. When I try going to envelopes in the mailings tab in Word, Word locks up and I get the “program not responding” message after a while. I can repeat this consistently. Is this happening to anyone else? Thanks John Riehl

Hi all, I think I know the answer to this but thought I’d ask just in case there’s a hidden setting that I’m not aware of (in the past 10 days I’ve learnt about two features that I never knew existed in Outlook). Is there any way to change the password associated with an account that’s already added to outlook or do I have to remove and re-add the account to outlook using the new password? I’m using the classic desktop version of outlook as part of the latest version of M365 along with the latest versions of JAWS 2025 and Windows 11 24h2. Thanks Madison

More and more frequently, particularly with the last couple of JAWS updates, I’ll open an Outlook message and Outlook will get stuck in that message – meaning I can’t take any action on that message (hit escape to get out of it, etc). Is anybody having this problem and if so, how can I fix it? I’m having this problem at work, using Outlook 2019 and Office 365. Thanks John

I have a potential referral that is about to begin writing his thesis, and I know that no one formats "by hand" anymore and that those doing academic writing tend to use a reference manager both to enforce style and to manage references. There is no way to discuss these disconnected from MS-Word, as that's the world in which they operate. Over the years various reference managers have become more accessible or, sometimes, less accessible, and this is not an area in which I have kept up to date because I just don't have frequent call to deal with this. I became curious about the Voice Access after the recent discussion and decided to check out the commands. Well, there are a ton! There are 12 tables of commands which I copied into a Word document with Headings for each section. So, if one wants this document, I put it on my web site at the below link. If you turn on the virtual cursor, you can navigate the document without a problem. Use the Table navigation commands and put yourself in column 2, and then if you arrow down, you will hear column 1 followed by column 2. The table navigation is control+alt+the arrow keys. T for next table, shift+t for previous table. Voice Access was working fine but quit responding to the microphone input a couple [le of months ago. The microphone works fine with Skype and Sound Recorder. Other known good microphones are also ignored by Voice Access. Voice Access is aware of the brand om microphone or webcam connected. Voice Access is on a list of apps with microphone input. I have checked all settings mentioned in articles about Voice Access and microphone. Hi all, I am editing the next edition of my book and want to switch to the convention of adding the plus sign for keystrokes where the keys are held down together, for example, replacing Control S with Control+S, or Control Alt J with Control+Alt+J. The problem is that I have about a million of these and they are all flagged as spelling errors when I run Spell Check. Any ideas on what to do to get Spell Check to permanently ignore all these rather than having to add them all to the permanent dictionary? Thanks, David
