Templot PLUG track
4
I've been watching on and off the Templot developments for 3D printed chairs in either 3D printed or laser-cut sleepers. The big interest for fellow true gauge aficionados is it is meant to work in any gauge or scale. I think the chairs are defined by a CAD file so it should be possible to produce 14mm track with all variants of Welsh chairs. The following link on WT is probably easier to follow than the Templot forum itself: https://www.westernthunder.co.uk/threads/hayfields-7mm-3d-printed-turnouts.13193/page-2 On this thread there are also details of someone who will print and lasercut track from Templot files as a service. I have to confess I have a love-hate relationship with Templot (more of a hate if truth be told) but I understand it has got slightly easier to use of late. John

Backwoods Miniatures Garratt
7
Hi I have a Backwoods Miniatures NGG16 Garratt, and after a mechanical problem on one engine unit the (Falhaber? Grandt Line?) gears are beginning to slip on their shafts. I’ve spoken with Loctite re. suitable adhesives or retainers, but they recommend different solutions depending on whether the gears are nylon or a hard plastic such as PTFE. Can anyone advise on what the gears are made of, and/or suggest alternative ways of dealing with the problem? Needless to say I hope to fix things with the motor and gears in situ - anyone who has built this kit will understand why disassembly is a last resort!

EDM and Lionheart
2
I just wanted to post a huge thanks to Paul Martin at EDM for all his efforts in support of our gauge. My Lionheart loco and coach wheel conversions arrived today and I know it has been a ‘not for profit’ project for Paul. His support for our gauge is much appreciated by me and I’m sure many others. Thanks Paul Cliff C

L&B Models "LYN" in 1/48 2' Gauge.
7
I recently purchased this locomotive at auction from the estate of Peter Barney, a well known Maine Two Foot author and modeller. I understand that the kit version of this loco became what is now the Slater's kit with a modified motor and drive system with Slater's wheels Does anyone know the history of the earlier L&B loco and who was behind it? From correspondence with Roy Link I know he partnered at one time with Alan Gibson to produce a limited run of 50 L&B kits that featured milled frames, sprung axles and portescap motors and Alan Gibson wheels and that a second version of locos came later from Alan without all those features. Was there a third maker of Lynton & Barnstaple 7mm kits? CP
