Липкий Resources for new PC800 owners 4
Howdy everyone, I figured since we've had a resurgence in interest in the PC800 in the last year and many wonderful new people joining the two wheel Tupperware party, we should post up a collection of links and info that will be useful for you to find what you need quickly. The first and most important is the "search" function that is available on the Messages tab at the Groups.IO iPCRC portal: https://groups.io/g/ipcrc/messages Look in the upper right corner. Type in a few keywords there and you'll find all the messages related to that. I've found a huge treasure trove of information there from 20+ years of PC800 wisdom. If you need to go farther back in the archives than what we have here (it goes back to 2000 here), the old PC800 mailing list that started in 1994 is additionally included here: https://pc800archive.douglasvanbossuyt.com/ (note: nothing going to Groups.IO is being backed up at this point. I haven't gotten together the time to modify the PHP code on the archive site to do that and I haven't wanted to dedicate the funds to have Tim Dearborn who Leland paid to write and maintain the original code to do the work). We have a very large files section on the Groups.IO site that collects files dating back to 2000 and perhaps earlier related to the PC: https://groups.io/g/ipcrc/files There are a *lot* of good technical documents in there that I haven't even discovered yet. We've got a very large photos and albums section on the Groups.IO site with photos going back into the early 2000s: https://groups.io/g/ipcrc/photos It's a bit disorganized thanks to the transfer from Yahoo Groups when they shut down but there is a lot of good info in there. We also have some old databases available here: https://groups.io/g/ipcrc/database that contain a variety of info. I don't think anyone has done anything with the databases in about ten years though. There is Leland's Directory of All Known Honda Pacific Coast Web Sites: https://www.douglasvanbossuyt.com/directory-of-all-known-honda-pacific-coast-pc800-web-sites-in-the-universe/ that I'm maintaining for him while he's on his final Iron Butt ride. Beyond that, there are many PC800-related videos on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=pc800 There are many how-to videos that walk you through various maintenance procedures. And if there isn't a video for what you want to do yet, then I suggest you make one and let us know so we can catalog it here. Or if you request it, next time I do that maintenance task on my bike, I'll record what I do so it's available. There also is the big list of links and information that I've built over the years: https://www.douglasvanbossuyt.com/personal/hobbies/motorcycle/honda-pacific-coast-pc800-links-and-information/ I've tried to capture and catalog all the good info I've seen come across the iPCRC and that I've learned the hard way in a decade of PC ownership. We have a variety of manuals and parts files available thanks to Leland's efforts that are now available here: https://www.douglasvanbossuyt.com/honda-pacific-coast-pc800-manuals-and-parts-files/ There is a PDF copy of the manual on the manual's main page which is higher resolution than the JPEGs showing up on the individual pages. That's something I need to investigate with my website to see why the resolution has recently lowered. It didn't used to be that bad. There are a bunch of registries and lists related to the PC800: https://www.douglasvanbossuyt.com/honda-pacific-coast-pc800-registries-and-lists/ And of course there's the big PC800 ride that Leland hosts most years: https://www.douglasvanbossuyt.com/the-great-pacific-coast-highway-pacific-coast-motorcycle-year-2xxx-motorcycle-ride/ I'm maintaining the website while Leland is away but it's still very much his ride that he leads. Does anyone have other websites to add to the list of useful places to look for PC800 information? Cheers, Douglas in Monterey

Bar weights
Howdy all, New Pacific Coast owner here in California. Just picked up a low mileage 1998 on a whim. It’s got some cracks in the plastic but runs great. Appears to have been down more than once, lol, and is missing the handle bar weight for the right side. Just the weight itself. The piece the weight screws into is still visible inside the handlebar. Anyone have one available or know where one can be found? Thanks in advance and cheers!

Everything must go 2
OK. I’ve been lurking on this site for a long time now, but I need to get rid of EVERYTHING motorcycle related. (I’m old, broken and simply can’t ride anymore. Walking is hard enough.) I’ve got a 1994 black PC, very well ridden and it looks it but the last time someone checked it ran; a 2010 Honda NT700V in really good condition, because I bought it just before I realized I couldn’t ride any more. It has a LOT of farkles; and a 2006 Honda Reflex scooter. (Thought I was going to ride that, but I guess not.) The Reflex definitely runs, and ALL the bikes were put in running condition but then I realized I couldn’t ride them. In addition, I’ve got a sh*tload of motorcycle stuff I just want to clear out and don’t want to take to the dump. Everything from used helmets (I know, but maybe someone wants to make art out of them; unopened parts from dozens of bikes I’ve owned; tools; stuff I’m not even sure what it is. Oh, and motorcycle clothing and riding accessories. I’m a big girl so they should fit anyone. Pics are hard to come by because they are all jammed under a motorcycle port cover and it’s hard for me to get in there. I’d really like to get rid of EVERYTHING in one sale. So if you want me to try to get some pics or have questions, let me know. Make me a reasonable offer for everything and I’ll probably take you up on it. I am in Roswell, NM, so you can check out the aliens while you’re here.

Carb boot removal 5
Hi all, Now that it's cooling off, I'm back in the garage and making improvements on my '90 PC800. I rode it some over summer after work last winter, I should have replaced the carb boots when it was apart. But, life got in the way, had to move and I didn't get to it. I've got carbs off and am looking at the boots - they won't keep a seal and leak. They are super hard and stuck on the engine. Nothing shocking about that. My question: Anyone have any tricks or tips about how to get them off the engine? Sometimes I am a knucklehead and miss a super easy solution. Thanks, ds

1990 PC800 stopped running - zero, zilch, nada. Now what? 9
My 1990 PC800, 55,000+ miles, stopped dead in its tracks over a year ago. After having it trailered to a local mechanic, who has worked on it in the past, he can still not find the problem. I changed the ECM unit and still no spark. A new battery was installed and no go. I need to bring it back home and am now wondering what should I look for to get it running? - carbs? - fuel system? - wiring/cables? Suggestions/recommendation are welcomed. Worse case scenario for me would be to sell it as a salvage but I would like to get it running again. I am in Goleta, California, between Los Angeles and San Francisco. t 805-696-5749

New again to me 89 restoration 44
Long long story short, I’ve known this bike since new. A good friend of mine bought this bike new in 91 and I bought his old bike. 10 years later, I bought it off of him and drove it for the next ten years then I gave it back to him. Fast forward another 10 years and only 500 miles later, he gives it back to me. I was hoping this was going to be a quick new battery and carb clean and back on the road but it is in a lot worse shape than when I gave it to him. Needless to say, there’s a bit of restoration needing to take place. Some of the paint is chipping off so it’s going to get a full respray on the plastics keeping the original color. The choke cable is broken and the only way I found an intact one was to buy a complete set of carbs. Those will get rebuilt and balanced. New fuel filter and hoses, rebuild master cylinders and brakes, spark plugs, oil, filters, coolant, thermostat, tires, wheel refinishing, LED light replacement except for turning lights are just a few things on the list. As it gets torn down further, I’m sure the list will continue to grow. After a quick rinse when I got it home. I realized how long ago I owned this bike. I added a mirror so I could fix my hair before work. Don’t really need that any more. Half torn apart.

Feedback on Quirky Starting Behavior? 6
Hey all! I have a 1998 PC800 with about 36k miles. I love commuting to work on him, but he has a quirk that has been cropping up more often that really needs addressing. I've not been able to narrow down the cause, and would be interested to hear if anyone has had this issue and what was done about it. When ready to go, I'll pull the choke all the way out and start him up. He pretty much always turns over without a problem. On good days his revs will move up to around 3k, sometimes a little higher, I'll let him warm for 60 seconds or so depending on outside temperature, then I'll push the choke back in, revs will drop to about 1,200, and we ride off. Gas mileage is good, usually north of 45mpg. On not-so-good days, he'll turn over, but then his revs will either climb to only 2k--or sometimes reach 3k then drop down--and then severely drop to less than 1k after a variable amount of time, maybe a few seconds, maybe 20 to 30 seconds. After this, many times he chugs sadly at 600-800 revs then dies, and refuses to turn over again. Opening the throttle at all kills the meager revs and very often the engine. If I let him sit for a bit after dying (several hours), it's like he resets himself and will get started up, and we go through the process again. (Once, I was able to get him to turn back over after dying, and blipped the throttle in frustration--and it's almost like something unstuck and he was back to a happy 3k revs with the choke pulled out.) Other times he revs back up to 3k after threatening to die, and then we're good--he's never quit after getting warmed up. Adjusting the choke cable earlier or later doesn't seem to influence whether the engine exhibits the behavior. He's had a couple of rounds of Sea Foam in the fuel tank, but I'm reticent to dive into the engine myself without having a decent target of attack. I'm fairly mechanically inclined, but this is my first and only carbureted vehicle and I've not had any EFI car engines act this way. Ring any bells for those with more experience? Appreciate the community, Lindsey

Center stand 20
I've been enjoying my PC800 for a few thousand miles but I'm embarrassed to say I've never put it on the center stand. None of my other bikes have a center stand so I'm new at that. Either I'm doing something wrong or you need the strength of a gorilla? I'm about to put her away for the winter. I'd like to put it on the stand so I can change the oil and also have it perched nice and stable during the down season. What am I missing about center stands?

1990 PC800 for sale
Its time for an old man to thin the heard. 1990 PC800 located in Erie, PA $1200. 43950 miles. It has some battle scars (a few scrapes and scuff marks). I bought on consignment from a Honda dealer so I have no precious history. I have installed stainless brake and clutch lines, volt meter, heated grips and Clearview windshield. New battery and starter relay. Get this before I have to put it in winter storage and I will include a box of "stuff" which includes rebuild kits for carbs and master cylinders, rear brake shoes, factory windshield, another Clearview windshield which has been modified a bit, new taillight assy plus spare MIRRORS.

1995 PC 800 (54,570 mi) for sale - Lincoln, NE
Hey all - I've been a PC 800 owner for a little over a year and live here in Lincoln, NE. Was hoping to keep this bike (my first) for a bit longer, but we're 'being sent' overseas so I gotta sell her. Not in a huge hurry. We don't leave until next year, but thought I'd throw it up here first. From FB add last year before I bought it, "most of the things that need to be done to an older bike have already been done! New fork seals, carb has been totally rebuilt, and a new battery! All work and maintenance was done professionally." I haven't done anything else on it since then, but it does leak just a tiny bit of oil - I have to add about a Tablespoon every 5th fill up or so. Runs great. Bought it for $2,400 last year, but willing to negotiate.

Thanks to everyone that reached out about the bike, including it's new owner and newer member to the community. I sincerely appreciate the inquiries and the encouragement. The gentleman that bought the bike had been watching this site for awhile and reached out to me about coming to see it. He became the proud new owner just yesterday (10-10-24). I'm sure he'll continue to learn from you fine folks about how to keep the bike running for another 100K+ and thank you all again for the pleasure of being a part of the Coastie community. Y'all stay safe out there! Bmaughan Howdy fellow PCer's. I wanted to post here first as I'd love to have this bike go to another true PC fan. I bought it 3 years ago from the 2nd owner. He bought the bike in 97, was a former jeweler and kept meticulous records including every single fill up. I bought it with 92K and have put another 11K on it. All the tupperware is there and the bike is in really good shape. New tires front and back, new oil and filter. Just bought a 24 Honda and need to make room in the garage. Battery and charger, heated grips, intermittent headlight when on bright in the daylight, brake lights flash 3x, givi rack with top box, oversized windscreen and a really nice cruise control. For full price, I will include the Corbin seat that is still in great shape. I found the original seats to much more comfortable and perfectly preserved in the Corbin box for 20+ years. Asking $1500. It does leak a little oil and has started to leak some antifreeze. I have not dug into the issue as neither of those are serious leaks. Located in Ft. Worth. Please see pics and whistle with any questions. Total miles at 103K and I do still ride regularly. Thanks.

New to the PC800 world 3
Salutations, It’s been almost a month since I picked up my 1996 PC800. Thanks to this community, I’ve been able to do some maintenance items and get her running! Took her out this evening for the first time since the test ride when I picked it up. The tires were 10 years old, the air cleaner was black, the sub air filter had long since disintegrated, and the seat cover is still mostly gorilla tape. I re-sealed the forks but I’m not sure if that made a difference or they already leaked out all their oil 🙃. At this point I think the $800 I paid might have been a bit too generous. Then the regular stuff-changed the oil, flushed the coolant, bled brakes and the clutch, swapped the fuel filter (glad I pre ordered that sidewinder hose as the existing hose split on me almost immediately), rebuilt the peacock, still have some work to do on the windscreen and I ordered the wrong washer for the drain on the final drive oil so that’ll be done here in a couple days when I get the part I just ordered tonite. The night I brought it home I dropped it while unloading and broke the previously intact left mirror. The glass broke and I replaced it with the best I could find on eBay and it seems to fit alright (a bit small and I had to use some foam mounting tape because I couldn’t pressure fit it but it works). Under closer inspection it looks like the right mirror has had a similar treatment but they just glued the smaller mirror on top of the broken one. So if anyone has a good line on some spherical glass replacements that might be a future investment. So all to say thank you already for the many of you who have been so helpful this far and I’m glad to see if I can contribute.

Rear wheel alignment
So I have replaced my ujoint and got everything back together but I've noticed now it feels like I'm riding down the street slanted a little the back end of feels like it wants to slip to the right. Also the left side trunk storage has gotten worn through by the tire. Looking at it the tire is not centered. It is further to the left than the right is there anyway to correct this or did I do something wrong when I put it back together ? Btw I have the correct tire on the back.

Daytime Running Lights/ Turn Indicator Switch Question 5
I recently needed to replace my turn indicator switch and with the new one installed, I noticed the daytime running lights are not on anymore. No I'm wondering whether I accidently picked up a switch from the 97-98 model years (although the self-cancelling is still working) or whether there could be a defect in the wiring. Did all PC800 have the daytime running light function with the indicators or was that dropped at one point? So, I'm wondering whether this could be fixed in any other way or need to find and replace with the 89-96 switch. Any pointer would be helpful. Thanks! Found these part numbers: 1989: 35200-MR5-003 superseded to 35200-MR5-871 1990 - 1996: 35200-MR5-871 1997 - 1998: 35200-MR5-A31
