Abrams on a lowboy

Today at dusk, on I65 south mile marker 17 in Kentucky I saw an Abrams on a lowboy with 3 escort vehicles, turret was turned with gun pointing at the tractor. Going to Ft Benning ?? We were returning from riding the Tennessee Central fall mile long yard sale excursion. Craig Hatter

Paint color
3
Back in the early to mid 80s the US Army started to paint its administrative vehicles (staff cars, commercial trucks, things like that) a light green. This was right before the Army started to use GSA vehicles. Do any of y’all know what green was used? I don’t think it was sea foam. The few photos I find on the internet vary so widely that it’s impossible to tell by looking at them. I haven’t been able to find an Army publication that has information related to commercial vehicles of that time period. Thanks much, Steve

Walthers Greenbrier 110 ton 89’ flats
My TPDX and XTTX flat Models arrived. Great addition to contemporary military train and other material loadings. Rendered well in my opinion. Good weight. I’ll see how they run. Lots of places for tie down chains. I’m going to need more chain. Container pedestals are collapsible and covered on deck. does anybody know how to acquire the artmaster models powered version of Panzertriebwagen 16 in HO/1:87th scale? I can't seem to get any luck through Reynaulds Euro Imports here in America and using various search engines and VPN's brings nothing up.

Printer for decals
3
We need a new printer at the house. Do any of y’all have a suggestion for a printer that not only does the standard printing but also does a good job printing decals? I have been building quite a few USAF blue trucks so I need to print yellow door decals. I have had terrible luck printing yellow in the past; the yellow disappears once I put the decals on the blue surface. Steve

New M54 5t trucks OFC
2
New listing on eBay for a 1967 slide of brand new M54 5-ton trucks being shipped on Trailer Train TTDX 89’ flats. They look to be USMC vehicles judging by the color of OD green and the yellow stencilling, and it looks to have been shot beside the UP yard in Salt Lake City. https://www.ebay.com/itm/204547142444 Jim Eager

USMC in Vietnam
4
Hi, I’m wondering what color/colors you guys are using for USMC armor and vehicles in Vietnam. What I have seen on line and ligature is that they were not Olive Drab. What I remember that they were more of a Dark Forest Green color. Any recommendations. I know Vallejo and AK Interactive have paint sets that’ have shades of Forest Green in them. I do have an airbrush. For health reasons I prefer acrylic paints. Thanks for the help, Larry Olsen

Note that you must be a registered user to view photos full-size and to do searches, but registration is free and the site does not track or sell user info, so it is safe. Enjoy, Jim Eager

Military Fire Equipment

Here is a photo from my collection of a USN FORD? fire truck on an Northern Pacific flatcar complete with non-paying passenger. Date is post 1963, the auto rack behind this car has what looks like mid sixties Buick or Cadillac noses. One day I plan to model this car complete with truck and hobo. Or Emperor of the North?. DODX flats with Russian 2S3 152mm
11
An interesting 1992 slide of DODX 40000-series flatcars carrying Russian 2S3 152mm sp guns showed up on eBay last week. The slide must have sold as it’s no longer listed. Wiki says the US obtained 5 examples after the breakup of the Soviet Union, but there are 7 visible in the image and probably more out of frame. Jim Eager

CAT D5
I just got an update from Panzerfux and see that Diecast Masters makes a nice CAT D5H high sprocket dozer, which is used by the Combat Engineer Btns in Stryker and light infantry Brigades. https://www.panzerfux.de/Soeben-eingetroffen/1-87-Fertigmodell-Caterpillar-D5-Fine-Grading-Undercarriage-and-Foldable-Blade.htm?SessionId=&a=article&ProdNr=DME-85953&p=4308 Those rubber tracks will have to go, but it looks like it does have potential.
