JMRI 5.10 issue 6 #digitrax
I have found a change to 5.10 behavior that is different from the previous versions. Prior to upgrading to 5.10, I could leave JMRI up and running on my computer whether the DCS210 command station was powered up or was off with no effect on the railroad. Now with 5.10, if I power off the command station, but leave JMRI running, when I again power up the command station, nothing works correctly until I shutdown JMRI. In this case, I can’t select engines or control any that were already selected when the DCS was powered off. I am running Windows 10 at the latest release, Java 11 and using a LocoBuffer USB for connection to the DCS. David Witman

Dispatcher and setting tracks "out of service" 5 #dispatcher
Hi. I am wondering if there is a way to stop allocation on certain blocks or sections with Dispatcher? What I think I want to do is prevent allocation on certain adjacent tracks when a particular mainline switch has been unlocked for use by a local crew. I can certainly edit all the affected signal mast pairs so that the signals go to stop when the particular mainline switch control is unlocked, or write logixng so that the signals are Held. However I noticed that Dispatcher still allocates the sections unless the local crew has occupied them. Seemed more straightforward (to me anyway) to place the sections adjacent to the switch “out of service” so that they cannot be allocated when the mainline switch is unlocked. Appreciate any guidance on this. Thanks. Robin Robin Becker San Diego CA

Assigning blocks to turnouts 9 #blocks
Is there a preferred way to assign block ID's to turnouts? IE: Is it better, from any stand point, to assign the block ID from the line entering the turnout or the ID of the line leaving the turnout (frog end) or should a turnout have a different block ID. I have used all these methods and it seems to be causing problems for signal logic and sections. Thanks Stephen Marler

JMRI 5.10 path train tracking issue 4 #blocktracking
Hi. WB Train 21 is meeting EB Train 22 at Rocky. Rocky has 4 detected blocks: East Switch, Main Track, Passing Track, and West Switch. The East Switch is lined for the Main and the West Switch is lined for the Pass. Train 21 arrives first and holds the Main. Train 22 follows and takes the Pass. When Train 22 hits the West Switch and the detector fires, the Block Value for the West Switch is erroneously set to 21. As Train 22 proceeds and hits the Passing track, its value also becomes 21. This continues after the meet as Train 22 proceeds east – the block values all show 21. The Pictures below illustrate the problem. The numbers in gold besides each block are Block Contents icons. Train 21 approaches WB and is lined into the Main track. Train 22 approaches EB and is lined into the Passing track. Train 21 hits the East Switch block. The East Switch block contents are now “21”. Train 21 hits the Main. The Main block contents are now “21”. Train 21 clears the preceding (Leyden) block. Train 21 clears the East Switch and stops. Train 22 hits the West Switch block. The West Switch block contents are now erroneously set to “21”. Train 22 continues onto the Passing track. The Pass block contents are now also erroneously set to “21”. Train 22 clears the preceding (Plain) block. Train 22 clears the West Switch and stops in the passing track. Both the Main and the Pass blocks now contain “21”. Happy to do further tests. Thanks. Simple sensor feedback 2
Hello everyone. I am drawing a blank on how to accomplish what I assume is a "simple" sensor. I know this isnt JMRI specific, but unsure where to post this. Ultimately in the end I would like to see a sensor in JMRI "controlled" but a microswitch on the layout. What type of device do I need to sit between JMRI and the switch? I am using JMRI/PR4/Loconet. Thanks! Matt

JMRI 5.6 new install won't launch 3
New install on Windows 10 machine won't launch. JMRI 5.6 JAVA 11.0 OS Name: Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise OS Version: 10.0.19045 N/A Build 19045 Command station: Intellibox 65000 USB Interface: RR Cirkuts Locobuffer-USB to Loconet Notes: Locobuffer sanity check shows no red light denoting activity. Both green led's are on. This same Locobuffer works on a much older Windows 7 machine running DecoderPro 3.11 and Java 1.8. This older machine launces and runs DecoderPro successfully. On the new install on the Windows 10 machine, shortcuts / logos appear, but won't launch DecoderPro. I've tried all the help on JMRI main web page. Looking forward to hearing from the community. --Tommy

Folders with nothing in them, can I delete them?
What is this folder with nothing in it? It is showing today's date, so it seems to be recent. But I had several others that I deleted before I realized they might be importnat. Do they have something to do with connections? My layout title is Riverside Transfer. I am not sure what 9A136161M is referencing. But tcp192.168.2.4:1883 is my MQTT connection. I have already deleted the other folders. And I closed and opened JMRI and do not see any issues. What are these folder? Can I delete them? What did I possibly mess up by deleting some of them? Thanks -- Heath @ Human[c]ity http://www.humancity.org http://www.riversidetransfer.nyc http://www.manhattanmodelers.com

DecoderPro Does not read CVs on Mac Running Sequoia 8 #mac-os #mrc
I recently upgrade my MacBook Pro to Sequoia and Decoder Pro would not communicate with my MRC Prodigy Advance Squared. I installed FTDI DDxx drivers and JAVA 11 and now I can write CVs using the programming track but it hangs up whenever I try to read a CV. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Dispatcher System 5 #dispatcher
I found Dispatcher System a few days ago. I have set up a simple 5 block straight as a test track. I added 'stop' comments in the two end blocks. I have added sensors and virtual masts in both directions at boundaries and ends. I have placed signal icons. I then ran the .py script and set everything up per the instructions. The problem is the signals, they are set at red except for the ones before the end stops, which are correctly set to caution. I can create an autotrain but it will not run until I manually change the stop signals to green. It transits OK but does not release the last block. Any suggestions? Neil

Controlling double crossover switch motors independently 3
I have a unique problem. I have a double crossover leading into a reverse loop with an auto reverse unit. The polarity is reversed on the opposite sides of the double crossoverswitch. There are four switch motors with two addresses, wired so that they will throw each pair will enable a crossover. All four turnouts are isolated from each other allowing the control of individual polarity. In order to control the polarity I have installed relays to reverse the polarity on the opposite half of the switch pair and turn off the track power to the turnout that are not I use to prevent shorting as the locomotive passes through. The system works great using two single crossovers manually. However now I am trying to create a transit through the switch it is not working. I have installed a double crossover into the Panel only to find it is throwing all four turnouts, leaving the switch without track power as the throwing of one pair cuts track power to the opposite pair. Is there any way to get JMRI to only throw the turnouts that are required leaving the others in the straight through position?

Stopping a script from the UI 3
How do I stop a script that I started from the UI. Trying to learn, I kicked off the example “back a forth timed”, my points were not set correctly and it set the loco down a short siding heading for the floor. I killed track power in time, but could not find a way to kill the script. Thanks

Закрито Suggestions needed for a number three locomotive 10
Gang, I need some suggestions… I bought a Atlas O scale two rail SW switcher in the Raritan River paint scheme with the cab number of three which research shows me is correct. I know I should not have a programmed locomotive of three but what do I do? I like to keep it pretty typical if I can and the paint job is a factory one that’s very nice… Suggestions, please. Thanks, Bruce in Mount Airy, Maryland.

it is time to update using MacOS v13.2 on MacBook Pro M1 JMRI 5.0 Java Azul 11 my thought is OS first to current rev, then Java to 17, then JMRI to 5.10 is this a least troublesome path forward? thanks in advance, glutton for punishment Doug Harrington
