Electrical Stimulation Unit - Simulation Question
7
Hello all, I just uploaded a zip file containing my schematic for an electrical muscle stim unit along with a picture of the schematic I found in this website: https://www.electroschematics.com/electronic-muscle-stimulator/. I am not trying to build this and use it on myself or anyone else. I am part of a senior design team at my university and one of our goals is to design (not necessarily build) an electrical stimulation unit. I am trying to learn and understand how this DUY unit works so that I can begin designing for our specific parameters. Our main concerns are to have a biphasic waveform (as my understanding goes, we need a net charge of 0 to prevent burns as) and preventing DC Offset. I am most concerned about having the right waveform though. Our program doesn't go in depth into transistors or transformers, so i am not very familiar on how to troubleshoot errors with those. I made my transformer have a 1:10 ratio just to try things out. Additionally, I used a NE555 instead of a 7555. I just dont understand why there voltage/current at the collector of transistor 2 is basically 0, and no current is detected at the electrodes (E1 & E2). The file is called EMS_Circuit.zip. Thank you all for your time, Joseph

hierarchical Chan transformer model

#Transformer
I want to make a hierarchical model of a transformer with a CHAN core. I used an example made bij the late analogspiceman. The example itself runs fine, even if I use .param n=10. When I turn that example in a hierarchical model I get a message "cant resolve .param n=n". Am I doing something wrong, or is it a flaw in LTspice? see file chanHierarchy.zip in temp directory Ite

load an experimental data file (lookup table) on windows PLOT
4
I have a series of measurements performed on a real circuit (DC sweept of the operating point). I then performed the same analysis on the simulator (DC sweept). I have the simulated results and the measurements. I would like to report the experimental measurement points and the simulated DC sweept analysis in the same graph, on the same PLOT window. But it seems it is not possible to load an experimental data file (lookup table) on PLOT. Can anyone help me? Thanks Alessandro

Failed to find DC operating point for AC analysis
15
I uploaded the file noise.asc to the group's temp folder, hoping someone can tell me how to get a bode plot. With the .tran analysis active it runs fine, but changing that to .ac gives an error. I just realized the .wave directives reference a drive G: you all may not have, so just delete those. I tried adding an empty AC generator, but that didn't help. Any advice to get this working is greatly appreciated!

Very nice, Guillaume! Despite being a 7-zip :{) I can see many places this will be useful. Thank you, Dave

Relaxation Response time inductor modeling
4
Hello everyone, Just looking for some ideas on how to model the inductor under a certain application. I know that LTSpice, you can place parameters to model the entire BH curve. Yes, my inductor is nonlinear however, instead of modeling the BH curve, I want to model the flux against current. I also need to account for the relaxation response time (relax time for simplicity) so that the change of inductance is accounted for. Now, I will be getting the data of the current vs flux from COMSOL/FEMM. I plan on deriving some equation that I can plug into LTSPICE. My application is a little different where the inductor itself is starting off as saturated. I plan on going the route of the flux equation because it will already account for the saturation condition and also all of the core material properties. My only thing that I am not entirely sure of is how to account for the relax time of the inductor. Or is this something that is already accounted for in the flux vs current plot?

WRONG FILE uploaded (was: File /Temp/Freq-Per-DC_Measurement.7z uploaded)
Please only upload .ZIP compressed files. I suggest you delete your .7z
upload and upload a .ZIP. The contribution sounds very interesting, but
it must be .ZIP.

Relay Project
33
I was wondering if someone can help me either find the right/equivalent relay symbol/part file. What I'm working with is a very old, analog switch relay, Price Electric Model 6250. I'm working to use this relay to create an impulse and see the effects on an antenna and what will be radiated. The basic circuit is a DC source (capable of going from 0-20k Vdc; V- (I'm using the negative output with V+ being the return)) connected to a 1uF cap which should then be connected to the relay. When the relay is activated this impulse from the cap will be directed to the antenna. I'm seeking some assistance with the relay for LTSpice. I'm trying to find either an equivalent model or a new design.

.model file similar to standard.mos
7
Is it possible to create your own user file that contains .model components statements (i.e. user.mos) where you can place a mosfet from a symbol you created "nmos_user.asy" and then from that symbol you can right click on it and select a mosfet from the "users.mos" file. I know you can go into the standard.* files and add components to those but would like to setup separate files if possible. Been searching the web and have not seen anything specific whether this is possible or not. If there is information out there I would appreciate someone pointing me to the link.

Gaussian and Monte Carlo truly random?
4
I am using the gauss() and mc() functions from a circuit file recreated from https://www.analog.com/en/resources/technical-articles/how-to-model-statistical-tolerance-analysis.html The output of both functions, while "random" upon a single run (Alt+R) of say 10 dummy parameter steps, repeat to the be same on another run for another 10 steps. Is this by design? The functions as described in the manual: gauss(x) Random number from Gaussian distribution with sigma of x. mc(x,y) A random number between x*(1+y) and x*(1-y) with uniform distribution.

as you know I'm working on a project in LTspice and I'd like to share the circuit diagram I want to implement. Could you suggest some best practices to minimize errors during the implementation? could you also tell me where and how i can upload the circuit image in this?

CD4060 model
19
I am new to LTspice, am using LTspiceXVII on Linux via Wine, works well but I have 2 problems. 1 - Ctrl+M does not give a new line on .op. 2 - I downloaded a model for CD4060 but cannot get it to work always getting an error "could not open CD4060Bg". I have also tried copying the 4060model to the circuit. What am I doing wrong? - other text file models have worked . my4066.asc uploaded DaveA

Constant impedance amplitude equalizers
Those who are interested in the design of constant impedance amplitude equalizers can download the file <Bridged-T Amplitude Equalizers.zip> with eight different implementations (from type I to type VIII), with lowpass, highpass, bandpass and bandreject responses. See the Temp folder: https://groups.io/g/LTspice/files/Temp?p=created,,,50,2,0,0 Types I to IV are the simplest ones, with unlimited maximum insertion loss, while Types V to VIII pose a limit to the maximum insertion loss. The component values are calculated with the formulae described in the second edition of the Electronics Designer's Handbook by L.J. Giacoletto, pages 7-5 to 7-8. The results appear on the schematic pages following Andy's example in https://groups.io/g/LTspice/files/z_yahoo/Files%20sorted%20by%20message%20number/msg_126391//Par_Values_on_Schematic_AI.asc and as further explained in: https://groups.io/g/LTspice/topic/showing_calculated_parameters/109650378 The input parameters are: - The characteristic impedance of the network (Ro) in Ohms, for all equalizers. - The 3 dB insertion loss frequency (f3dB) in MHz, for Types I to IV. - The maximum insertion loss (Loss) in dB, for Types V to VIII. - The frequency (fb) at 1/2 maximum insertion loss (in dB), for Types V to VIII. - The resonant frequency (fres) in MHz, for Types III, IV and VII, VIII. (Note: fres>f3db and>fb) The frequency response traces are displayed as V(out)/V(in).

Establish initial capacitor voltage.asc

.IC can only use terms whose values are known before the simulation starts, fairly obviously, so V(vc1_L) can't be used. Why have you used a E source rather than an ordinary voltage generator? Zener voltage of b-e junction

Hi all, Is it parameterized in LTspice (or even in SPICE)? I know it's not specified in datasheets. I'm thinking of adding a series combo of diode + zener to the b-e junction but I would prefer a "native" solution. Regards

Modeling frequency dependent inductance and resistance of a toroid primary
32
Hi folks. I just uploaded a file “Simple toroid transformer return loss model.asc”. My problem is this: I am trying to model a ferrite-based toroid transformer which has frequency dependent inductance and resistance values based on its complex permeability curves which are a function of frequency. My uploaded file shows the equivalent resistive and inductive component of the primary as a function of frequency in the text shown at the upper right from 3.5 to 28 MHz. . I would like to simulate interpolated resistance values and inductance values of the primary so I can have a single return loss curve as a function of frequency as the toroid’s primary resistance and inductance values change. I realize I can simulate interpolated parameter values in tables, and I believe I can use a BI source with a frequency dependent equation plus use of parameters, but I have not succeeded in getting this all together. I did see a model of a frequency dependent resistor in the files. I can use some assistance with my simulation on how to incorporate the frequency dependent inductance and resistance values. Thanks for your help. -Steve (amateur radio call sign K1RF) Virus-free. www.avast.com
