My ideal transformer symbol "can't be edited"
6
I am working on a "cantilever model" flyback transformer with 4 windings. I elected to rip off one of the contrib/Wurth transformer symbols because they were nice and pretty while I can't seem to get the hang of stick- building with the "arc" object. So that worked out, except now right-click delivers a popup that's still all about Wurth symbol. "attachments are not allowed in this group" This seems to be some "hidden junk", "Attributes" has none of this visible. Down in the symbol ASCII I see this bit that appears in the popup, but nothing that looks like "why?". "attachments are not allowed in this group" Contents of IdealXfmr.asy: Version 4 SymbolType BLOCK LINE Normal 61 0 61 96 LINE Normal 67 0 67 96 LINE Normal 0 0 32 0 LINE Normal 0 96 32 96 LINE Normal 128 0 96 0 LINE Normal 128 96 96 96 CIRCLE Normal 28 12 36 20 CIRCLE Normal 92 12 100 20 ARC Normal 16 0 48 32 32 32 32 0 ARC Normal 16 32 48 64 32 64 32 32 ARC Normal 16 64 48 96 32 96 32 64 ARC Normal 112 0 80 32 96 0 96 32 ARC Normal 112 32 80 64 96 32 96 64 ARC Normal 112 64 80 96 96 64 96 96 TEXT 64 -32 Center 2 IdealXfmr TEXT 16 48 Right 2 Pri TEXT 112 48 Left 2 Sec WINDOW 0 64 -64 Center 2 WINDOW 3 49 112 Left 0 SYMATTR Description WE-FB Flyback Transformer\n25uH, 9-30Vin, 5V/2A, 5Vaux\nwww.we-online.com/redexpert/article/750310471?al\n\nPlease note the disclaimer in lib/sub/Contrib/Wurth/WE-FB.lib. Also cannot get to symbol attributes list by control-right-click (as Help claims with no qualification). What I want, is to add a "turns ratio" property so that I can square-scale the secondary winding inductance by that, squared. But I see nothing about how to add or remove attributes from a symbol. Only change visibility. I'm looking to add a named property and use it (with math) in the netlist line or pass it in and use the (well behaved in this regard) ind primitive to (hopefully) carry it (the param*value) to the netlist. I would like this param to appear at placement-time, just like the primitives, and used in a math expression in the value attribute fields of ind instances (like I want to see "TurnsRatio" as a field to fill, and I want the L (inductance) value of L1 to be "10m*TurnsRatio" (or its syntax-correct equivalent, so that the inductor in question is "modified from above" (symbol instance property flows to SPICE value, not a SPICE .param or a {} evaluation of one). For that matter I find nothing about flexible definition of netlisting either. Seems "baked in". But I know there's a lot of undocumented features, so I'm asking.

Low Voltage level problem in STM32 system chip
6
Dear all, hope you are doing great. I am designing a circuit using EasyEDA simulation tool. But I am facing a problem after connecting the relay to the single-Chip IC (STM32 103RTC6). The low voltage is showing around 2V, whereas it was originally supposed to be 0 volts. I am still unable to understand why it is, so I need your help, please.

Low Side and High side driving

How do we decide whether to drive a load high side or low side? What are the limits of expressions such as low power, low frequency? How do I decide based on load? I don't know anything about this, can you help me? Yükün yüksek taraftan mı yoksa alçak taraftan mı sürüleceğine nasıl karar vereceğiz? Düşük güç, düşük frekans gibi ifadelerin sınırları nelerdir? Yüke göre nasıl karar vereceğim? Bu konuda hiçbir şey bilmiyorum, bana yardım edebilir misin?

Extended version of the LoopGain example
19
Hello, Under http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LTspice/files/Examples/Educational/LoopG ain_Probe/, I have uploaded an extended version of the LoopGain example that comes with LTspice. The voltage and current sources for simulating the loop gain are conveniently placed inside a subcircuit, which plays the role of a "loop gain probe". These sources are controlled by a variable and are activated one at a time by a .step command, so that it is not necessary to duplicate the circuit. The step selection operator @ is used to compute the loop gain from the simulation results. In order to simulate the "normal" closed-loop gain of the circuit, both sources in the probe subcircuit can be turned off by setting the control variable to zero. The example also features a generalized version of Middlebrook's formula that was developed by Michael Tian and takes backward loop transmission into account. The result of this formula is independent of the direction in which the probe subcircuit is inserted. In a loop with no backward transmission, the result of Tian's formula is identical to that of Middlebrook's formula. Tian's formula is used by the stability analysis of the Spectre circuit simulator from Cadence Design Systems. By the way, has anyone found a way to calculate phase margin and gain margin in LTspice, so that one does not have to use the cursors each time to read the values? Best regards, Frank

LM317A Model Not Working As Expected
8
Hi, I've pulled a model of the LM317A from the Files section (LM317A_001.zip). This is a working sim. I re-wired for constant current operation at 1.5A and the results are way off. Output is just over 1A. The circuit was modified from the working schematic in the zip archive. Can anyone see what's gone wrong? https://i.ibb.co/xHM934j/lm317-A-sim.jpg For the circuit as wired, Iout should be 1.25/R1 according to the data sheet. The supply voltage is high enough to accommodate the 317 drop out voltage, so it's not that. I've either misunderstood how the LM317 operates, or the model behaves differently to the datasheet. Any pointers appreciated. Regards.

LMP8481-S Spice model Import
15
Hi all, I pulled the Pspice model for the LMP8481-S from TI's website. I know these models are normally encrypted, but it appears in this case the model is not. Please correct me if that's wrong. I imported the model into LTSpice and I did move the pins around a bit in the Symbol to get the schematic diagram flow that I wanted. However, I am having issues simulating with this circuit. I get all kinds of errors when I try to run a transient analysis and I'm not sure how to decode them. Any help is appreciated. Here are my files: https://groups.io/g/LTspice/files/Temp/LMP8481-S.zip Thanks, -May

Example LT4295 optimization- especially in steady-state.
Hello, I uploaded the LT4295 example file that came with LTSpice to the temp folder just now. Surprisingly, it runs very slow despite being an example circuit. It seems to be only useful for showing the handshake/negotiation between the PSE and the PD. Even if only reviewing the initial couple of hundred milliseconds, it take a long time- and I do keep seeing Def Con 1 notifications in the status bar when I try to load it or add any additional circuitry. I want to be able to simulate some modifications to the feedback net of the circuit- but it is very time consuming. I would think that, coming from ADI directly it would already be optimized, but I wonder if anyone has any suggestions for making the sim run faster. I attempted to use an auxiliary supply to skip over all of the PoE "handshaking" but then the simulation wouldn't converge at all. Appreciate any suggestions!

Strange Problem (stuck in Pan mode)
4
I have not used LTSpice in a few months and when I went to use it the schematic editor is misbehaving. I can place a few components, change the parameters by right clicking when hovering over the component, but when I go to move and individual component by dragging, every thing on the schematic moves. It's like I am stuck in pan mode. I've rebooted and reinstalled the software several times. Running version (x64): 24.0.12 on Windows 11. I've checked and I don't have any stuck keys. Other software on this machine works as expected. Suggestions?

OPAx197 simulation gone wrong
4
Hello, I am attempting to stand up a low-side current sense amplifier circuit using the OPAx197. I selected the OPAx197 simply because it is already in the larger design. I have tired to "dumb down" the circuity significantly; meaning that in this simulation I am not showing the half bridge circuits or FET drivers. I am not sure if I have dumbed down too far, and that's what's causing issues. My intent was to pass +/- 2A through the sense resistor. Anyway, when I simulate with the OPAx197 opamp, I see the output of the opamp rail and there appears to be a phase inversion. I am totally stumped here and I've been staring at this for so long that I am sure I could be missing something obvious. Here are my files: https://groups.io/g/LTspice/files/Temp/OPAx197.zip Thank you and Happy Friday!! -May

mutual inductor/transforme not working
43
#Transformer
Good morning everyone, first of all I apologize for my English, some idiomatic expressions may seem strange, as I am using a translator. I am having the following difficulty with LTspice, when making a transformer (mutual inductance) it is not working correctly, apparently acting as a transition detector. Sometimes it works correctly, but as the circuit progresses it simply stops working. Attached is a small didactic circuit, which although unsuitable for practical use I am using didactically, it started working well, but when I implemented the oscillator with the ne555 it simply stopped working. I have already tested it by changing the series resistance of the inductor, among other attempts. I have placed a print screen of the result I am getting in the file area. https://groups.io/g/LTspice/files/Temp/withsband_voltage_tester.tar.gz Am I doing something wrong? Seeking Help: Simulation Result Changes When Enabling Subcircuit Device Current Saving in Foster Networks
5
Hello, I'm currently simulating several Foster thermal networks (circuit file: thermal simulation.cir). However, when I enable the option to save subcircuit device currents, the simulation results differ from those with this option disabled(Simulation results). Has anyone encountered a similar issue or could offer insights into why this might be happening? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Timing Circuit Spice Model Limitations
10
Hi, I am specifically trying to get accuracy limitations for 555 timer one shot circuits over T and V. The problem centers on I cannot find, for electrolytic caps, a model that encorporates dc bias, T, and V effects on cap. So I can do monte-carlo sims on circuit. Even aging would be welcome in the model. Values in 10 - 100 uF range would do. Would be great if model allowed C entry and general rules applied to it. I am also just starting to look for carbon and metal film R's, same considerations. Any help most welcome. Regards, Dana.

Double pulse test turn-on problem
8
Respected everyone, Here is my double pulse test result (https://groups.io/g/LTspice/album?id=298508). I'm trying to understand why the waveform oscillates specifically during the second turn-on event. Could these oscillations be due to parasitic inductances or capacitances, reverse recovery effects or gate drive issues? I would appreciate any insights or suggestions on what might be causing this behavior and how to mitigate it potentially. For context, my measurement setup uses a DC bus voltage (Vdc) of 48V, with a switching current of approximately 20A. The load consists of a 1mH inductor with 400mΩ resistance. The device under test (DUT) is the low-side MOSFET in a half-bridge configuration. Thank you for your assistance! Krunal
